  • The effects not working on Frozen Soft Synth audio tracks

Hey, guys

I am confused. Why is it that no effects working on the audio tracks made by freezing the software synth? Let's say I just froze Strum Acoustic (by the way- very interesting program). I want to add reverb to the guitar track I made with it. I insert Reverb, and it just sits there- it does not get any signal in or out of it. What am I doing wrong? No effects getting any signal on frozen audio tracks. Now, if I move the wave form on to another regular Audio track, then effect is working. But I do not like to move each track every time. It creates disorder. I like to know which tracks were created with soft synths and be able to unfreeze them if I want to, therefor they need to stay on their frozen track next to a midi track. Are there some settings to unable effects on such tracks? Thank you.

Right-click the freeze button, choose Freeze Options, and uncheck Track FX before freezing.

By default freeze will disable the FX bin. You can either use the Freeze options mentioned above or re-enable the FX bin after freezing by right-clicking on the FX bin and de-selecting "Bypass Bin".

I learned 2 things from this - thanks to all, first for having the problem so I could learn (kidding), and really for the 2 ways of enabling FX Bin functionality after a freeze.

I love this forum,

Usually I freeze a synth, copy the audio and stick it on another track.  Unfreeze the 1st track and archive it.  That takes it off the CPU and allows me to treat the synth track as recorded audio, so if I needs more reverb or eq etc, it is easy.  Like how we used to have to do it in the analog days.

Why not bounce and archive? Would seem to get the same result without the manual copy process. In the end, I guess they are the same amount of effort.
