Hello all,

I thought this forum was for Sonar X_ software, but I see more posts related to hardware creeping on here.
Cakewalk have been forward-thinking and have provided forums for hardware and systems, which are just as alive and kicking as this one dedicated to Sonar.

While the discussions may be compelling, there may be more targeted responses when posted in the correct forum. People that are more interested in hardware are probably going to scan the hardware forum more than this one, which may give you more responses to your hardware related questions and discussions.

Just saying, that's all.

IMO many of the posts including hardware questions are about combinations of compatibility with new SONAR versions, new OS's and driver versions. It's often very difficult to decide which of those are the core of the problem.

The way I see it, if the question is about particular settings and tricks in using a certain piece of hardware with SONAR, it belongs here. If it's about hardware in general (Which mic is best for vocals, which interface has good drivers/preamps, what interface/headphones etc. would you recommend, firmware updates...) it should be in the hardware forum.

Harmonization of body and mind. Although I understand your point, sometimes it is difficult to channel exclusive hardware questions when the bottom line is that the software runs well in the hardware. Cakewalk as many other software is hardware dependent and that might be a good reason for some people to share their thoughts in this section. I am more inclined for a consolidation with filters than complete separation of topics. Just my two cents as this is not right or wrong. Thanks for sharing.

Like it the way it is. Thanks.
The mods do move the very obvious threads eventually.
Personally I can't think of any user I would like to see have the authority to moderate this forum.
The cakewalk mods do a pretty good job.

Being one of the blatant violators of this, I will say that I see this forum has more activity in general, and if a thread title is descriptive, no one is "required" to read it if the title alone satisfies their needs. Ironically, posts with non-descriptive or scathing titles become the "HOT" ones due to rubber-necking. When I log in, I jump into this forum by default because I recognize names and trust the judgment of the people here.

That said, when I purchased my new interface, I posted in this forum very much on purpose for the reasoning above. Not two weeks later, Geo524 posted a very similar question in the "correct" forum. I popped in on his thread and linked mine; and if you look at those two, the detail of the people replying was significantly different IMO.

I certainly do understand your point, but also feel that the descriptive thread titles play into this a lot more.

If there were more than say 30 new threads a day I would worry about it...
Some people might no know but if you hover your mouse over the subject titles you don't even have to open up the thread if you don't want to.

Hit nail on the head. Drove it all the way in. Job done.

I could argue for instance that this thread is nothing to do Sonar X, rather it is to do with the forums. It actually belongs to another forum. So why did you post it here? Answer: The same as why everybody else does, on this forum there are more eyes in this forum and you feel that this should be targeted towards the X community. And that is fair enough IMHO.

And that is the problem with these forums. We need actually need a forum of forums. i.e. The ability to show all the threads of all the forums we are interested in as one consolidated forum. Half the issue is that people can't be bothered to poke in and out of separate forum areas.

And yes it would be really cool to have community points (although some of us I think will need a rebate if it comes into play  ).

Check this out for instance:
