Copy one track

I know this can't be difficult, but I can't figure it out.
How do I COPY all the events in ONE track, for pasting in another song file? I don't mean Clone, and I dont want to have to drag the mouse over the whole thing as it's in pieces. This is a 16 track MIDI file.

Open both projects, select and copy the track in the original project and paste into the target project.

Well, this is odd. I was able to copy the track and paste into a new project, but I wanted it to start at measure 5. CW decided it wanted it to start at 8. Same with all tracks.
That would seem easy enough to Slide, but apparently CW can't slide a whole track? There's some sort of limit?

If you copied the track into an existing track, it will copy the clips where ever the now time is located. You can slide the clips in the track but cannot slide the track because there is now where for the whole track to go when sliding to the left. Select the track and drag one of the selected clips.

Ok, well, I don't see any Now changed to 8, not by me anyway. I understand about not sliding negatively past 1, but that's not the case here. And I've copied into a new, empty project.
I can select a few clips and Slide -1, but not the whole track.

If you select the track, doesn't it highlight all the clips? When all the clips are highlighted they should drag as a group.

Yes, all clips are highlighted. But I cannot Slide them left from 8 to 5 with Slide or dragging. Sliding + works.
EDIT: I just went thru the entire track highlighting every clip by hand, then the Slide -3 worked. Argghhh
