I'll give this a good listen later. I'm not at my daw and soundcloud isn't working well here at the moment. I didn't want you to think I was being rude after your very kind comments on my song.

Nice production. The mix sounds very nice here.

In the intro section, the singing could be more even, and perhaps some compression could help (but I think the performance of the vocal is the main issue).  Some notes are barely heard, like for example the word "you" at 0:15.  Sounds like you may lack some confidence in your vocal.  If needed, practice the lines a bit more before recording.  Also, consider the potential benefit from "comping" several vocal takes together...  https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X3&language=3&help=Arranging.41.html

Around 1:30, I'd maybe back off a tiny bit on the background vocal, relative to the lead vocal.  In general, my personal preference is to EQ some of the bottom end out of background vocals, and add more top end, making them more "airy", and less intrusive.  But maybe what you have is already perfect, depending on what you prefer.

I really like the wet guitar solo section, although I could stand to hear a little more of the drums in there.

All in all, very nicely done!

Thanks for the comments, especially your detail Walt.  Lacking confidence is right!  I'll try to apply some of your ideas.
Thanks!

I'm not going to comment on the mix...

I loved your vocals CW. They are upfront, but you can still hear the reverb/delay to left and right. Love the layered harmonies.

Guitar solo sounded excellent.

That was such a good cover dood...

thanks for producing it and sharing with the world

Got to have another listen..............

To me it sounds like the sound behind the piano (possibly an organ?) during the first chorus (your skin... etc) has way too much reverb on it.  It kind of overpowers everything else.  Also, I agree with the comments above.

That said, it's an interesting arrangement of the song.  I've not heard the song done this way before, so a nice job there.  I love the guitar solo in the middle.

Thanks for all the comments -- i've re-recorded some of the vocals and fixed some parts.  Kev, the version you listened had a stuck note in it (!) which I've fixed.  Thanks for the insight.

This arrangement version of Coldplay's Yellow was inspired by Sara Bareilles' live version you can see on YouTube here:

Can't hold a candle to it, of course, but there it is...

The difference is obvious over the previous version - glad I could offer some good insight!  You vocal sounds better now as well,  It sounds like you went into it with a bit more belief in yourself!

Excellent work.
