Hi guys
I'm putting in drum tracks myself in the box.
My question is how or should I put in overheads?
At the moment I just have the kick, snare toms, cymbals etc...
How would I go about putting in overheads? do I need to replicate an overheads sound?
Should I simply route all drum components to another channel and pan to replicate an overheads feel?
This may be a stupid question but if I don't ask then my knowledge will not grow.
cheers
Ben

Ah, I'm not familiar with Session Drummer. When you inserted this synth, did you check All Synth Outputs? Does that not have an overheads in the mixer?

I don't believe it does but I'll need to check.... saying that I'm not sure how you replicate an overheads sound anyway as the sound of all drum channels would be same no matter what as opposed to a live drums setup when overheads are actually giving you a unique sound of the kit along with room mics. Maybe I could run a couple of group drum buss and have different reverbs and pans on them?

Overheads shouldn't be necessary with programmed drums

Depends.

AD2 , BFD2/3 etc all provide dedicated OH, Room & Ambient type channels and the sound you get from these is, and naturally so, VASTLY different to the sound of the close mics alone.
