Tonight I worked on a rather large project, saved the project and when I reopened it I got this error:

Unexpected error code
he: 2359296261 File:
HRESULT: 3221225747

Can anyone tell me what error that is please? I really don't want to lose the work I put into this.

Thanks

Joe

I recall seeing threads about this error before. IIRC, they were trying to open bundles. You are not saving the project as a bundle are you?

Yes I save as bundles.....

I do not use bundles and cannot state definitively this is the case but this post might be the answer http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/2777131

Older threads hint at it not only being bundles, but having mono and stereo waves in the same file.

As far as "solution" it is not clear. If that thread is not helpful, definitely contact CW tech support.

It is highly recommended that you use a simple .cwp to save, and use "Per Project Audio Folders" (Edit->Preferences->File->Audio Data). That file format (cwp) points to the files it needs to open, so is efficient in this regard. Bundles create undo overhead on save and reopening (but are useful if sending a project to another computer as "one file")

I saw that thread but I don't know if it answers my questions. Im not using any characters in the file name that I haven't used in this file name before. I am not using any waves plugins on this track.

I wrote this track in X2. I installed x3 this weekend but didn't use it while working on this track because I am not completely confident in it yet.

I am completely baffled why this would happen. I copied the file and renamed it .wav and still got the same error.

This is the only track I have opened and saved in x2 or x3 since my x3 instal. Now I am afraid to open any file in fear of it getting the same error code.

I really don't want to lose this file.

To think that we can have issues with mono and stereo tracks in the same project is crazy. I also read that thread but seriously this should not be an issue. I record synth tracks in stereo and drums in mono. This is a common thing. I would hope something so common is not an issue, I have been recording like that for years. I am not giving you guff about it I just think its absurd if that is what causes a problem.

There is no problem in having mono and stereo tracks in a project. The problem arises when those tracks are concatenated into the bundle. At least that is how I read the post. I would imagine most here use a combination of mono and stereo tracks and files.

I have been saving as bundles for years without problems. This is my first one. If I need to change the way I save files then I will.

Scook, what format do you use to save files?

Do you guys think here is a way to salvage this project?

If you use per-project audio folders (setting in Preferences > File > Audio Data "Use Per-Project Audio Folders"), each project has it's own directory with the associated audio in a directory beneath the project cwp, version and autosave files. To backup the project, just copy the directory. If you prefer to have a single file, zip up the directory.

May want to discuss recovery with tech support or search through the postings regarding this error or other corrupted bundle threads. I have not worked with bundles in a very long time.
