Nice song... Not so sure about the mix, but I'm going to see what the experts here think...

Hi 90 db!

Cool tune, nice vocal quality! I also liked the tone of the bass, rich and clear.

A few ideas of crits, the first note startled me - it all started with a big bang.

Mix wise, I'd take the vocal back down just a hair, it is swamping everything else. You've mixed it properly I think so that it stands up front, but too much past the point where guitar and drums get minisculed.

You might take it as a compliment that this reminds me of Bruce Springsteen, who I believe, sold a couple of records.  :)

Why not bring that electric guitar solo up toward the end of the song?

nice one!
cheers,
-Tom

Tom,

Thanks for listening and the thoughtful suggestions. It's a fact, I'm a lousy mixer! I've been doing it for a long time – long enough to know that I'm not very good at it!

Others have made similar suggestions. Time for a remix!

Tom pretty much nailed this, I would also suggest taking the side chain ducking off the backing track it might make all the difference.

Thanks for sharing.

Good tune!  It definitely has potential IMO so worth some time with the mix.   And that's already been covered - vocals seem to be way out front and ducking the music instead of sitting within it.   I think the music does sound good so should be on a reasonable level with the vocal - I'd use the old "imagine a band on stage" approach and how you'd expect that to sound.   More or less.

Hi, Bob,

Great song with a definite Springsteen vibe, excellent playing and dynamite vocals!

As others mentioned above, I think if you dropped the volume of the vocals by a dB or 2 it would let some of the background instrument tracks shine through a bit more, but of course that's always a subjective choice.

Either way, really nice work, good stuff!

Best Wishes,
Bob
