For those not already involved in this remix contest (worth participating in, even for fun), I dropped my submission here.

Ironically (as some have commented), this is not the chosen genre of some listeners. After getting (immense) grief because I did a re-mix only (not mastered), I was sort of forced to do a mastering pass on that re-mix (to appease the whiners), but left the "submission" as the re-mix only. For better or worse, I chose to leave the original arrangement in tact with a minor addition, and left the re-mix open to interpretation for the mastering phase.

Hi Michael,

I listened to both versions.

I'm not sure why you got grief over your submission... Sounded good to. Nice addition, although I felt it was a touch too loud, especially on the "mastered" version.

cheers

Thanks for the listen an compliment, Andy. The offline back-and-forth was rather comical in a way, but as I was browsing through them, the loudness delta was extreme to some others.

Not sure if I chose a proper tag for the master since I rarely use the site and had to pick something. That track was downloaded within minutes of being posted, which left me scratching my head (almost like "#master" triggers someone's spam bot).

Listened to the mastered version sounds quite well here, good luck.

Thanks Wookie. I joked in another post that Greg Johnson (who wrote, tracked, and originally mixed this) is probably going to be one of the judges, so if I give him a "WTF moment," it may be the kiss of death.

I always tread lightly helping one friend out; since if he has progressed far enough into his arrangement I feel like I am crucifying his child . I still feel like walking on eggshells with him, since I can only explain so far once he has "baked the goods."

As far as this particular song, there is a lot of leeway for artistic interpretation (I think this was a wonderful choice for BOZ). I am not sure how much is "truly acceptable," but I definitely enjoyed working on this piece.

I'm not sure if it's that dood... I think that sometimes, peeps check what is new and listen straight away... I've had "likes" on tracks within minutes of uploading, even when I haven't told anyone it's up on SoundCloud...
