I have a feeling that I`ve done some changes but cannot recall what I did to get this  behavior :-))
Usually the now time marker stays put and the now time vertical line snaps back to the marker when you stop playback .

Its always run together on my machine. You are talking about the green inverted triangle and the now time line, right?
 
Perhaps you are mistaking the Aim Assist as the now time?

The video helps. I can't say I have seen that behavior before. Maybe I have and just don't remember. 
 
For me the Now Time line and the Now time marker are attached.

From the reference guide :
The Now time marker
In the Track view, the Now time appears as a solid vertical line that followsplayback. When you set
the Now time in the Track view, the Now time marker appears in the Time Ruler. This marker
represents the point at which the Now time will snap back to after you stop playback or recording.
 
So according to this the Now Time Marker and Now Time should not be attached .
For me everything ran as normal untill this morning .

Yes now I recall that is when using the return to zero or not when playing back. Ctrl + spacebar.

So how do I get back the normal behavior where the now time marker and now time is separate during playback ??
