  • X3b, X3c, or X3d?

Well, I downloaded my X3 license a few weeks ago but I've been on the fence about installing it, still on X2a and stalking the various X3 forum posts about this issue and that.  I'm anxious to try the new X3 comping workflow but I'm unsure on which X3 patch to dive in.  It looks like maybe a couple things went south in X3c?  I could install X3b and hang out there or I could wait for X3d.  Those with both X3b and X3c experience, what do you think?  Have many X3c folks rolled back to X3b or are you riding out the various new niggles in X3c?

It's difficult to tell just how many satisfied X3 users there are at the moment, could be loads because they're probably off recording music instead of hanging out here on the board.  ;-)

I have had no issues with X3c. I know some people have but it works fine here.

I've also had no issues with X3, although I disabled the 64-bit engine because some people reported issues.

The easy answer is install X3b, set a system restore point, then install X3c. If you have any issues, go back to X3b. I suspect, however, that you'll do fine with X3c.

I'm still on X3a. I updated to X3b but had many crashes, rolled back to X3a, waiting for X3c. With all the problems reported on X3c, I decided to stay with X3a. Why update?
Any new features? I'm a happy camper with X3a and I use it everyday with no issues.

I only just installed X3 and I immediately put on X3C and disabled the 64 bit engine before I even ran it. The only issues I came across were to do with my own configuration and third party software (which didn't effect X2A), and not Sonar which I managed to resolve in 24 hours. To be honest I was half expecting it.

I totally recommend X3C.

It's also worth noting that many of the issues are isolated incident, so the ddds are you won't experience them. Remember, people rarely go to forums to post "Hi, I'm currently working on a project, and just thought I'd take a few minutes to post that everything's working."

I have no issue with X3 C. I really like it.

A restore point is so SIMPLE. A rollback is SIMPLE. Fear not the X3C!

+1 on the advice here, you can set restore points for each patch if you like... and leave X2a installed.

X3c has a lot of fixes in it, and the only common "bugs" directly from it seem to be related to the 64-bit Double Precision Engine, so uncheck that one when playing around.

The new comping is a MASSIVE plus in X3.

I agree with the consensus here - X3c running well here. Mind you, so did X3a and X3b.

I also unchecked the 64 bit double precision engine for now until Cake fix the issues with the Console Emulator and Quad Curve EQ.

Install X3, it's fantastic.
