Hello
( i did read true other Thread about this ) But I'm still stuck.
I used my first Sonar X2 on my old Alienware laptop Mx11  *the lowest stats one* info her

There Sonar X2 worked fine. I rember i downloaded somthing to make less delay too my MIDI keyboard and a littel better buffering. Can't remeber what it was.
Anyway the Sonar X2 wokred just fine, not super fast. but sound was ok.

Now i got a new big PC. i7 extreme , 32Gb DDR 2000Mhz . 5x Intel SSD 510.  and I use this main board and I use that as sound card. This main board have build in
X-FI chip so I was hoping it wud at last!! Run Sonar at the same quality as my 5500$ cheaper Laptop.

--------------------------------------------------------------
So well i look true all the setting, the Crakling sound won't even go away when i turn it all at lowest. It gets better but not near as good as it shud be!
I used the bufferbar Fast the sound is crazy.  If I go all the way on Slow. Its still not good!!   My littel poor laptop have the bar 40%.  a littel more fast then slow. If you imagen the buffer slide bar.

If its any info, I use SPDIF out on the motherbord to my system.
I have a M-audio interface. But the sound is not going true that. Its on all sound on Sonar, all playback.

Pleas. I know I must be the 10000meber asking for this. but I reallt can't figer it out.

When you buy a system you should factor a decent sound card into the budget - on board audio is never a good option, What driver are you using for the sound card - that is what driver TYPE are you using? ASIO is generally preferred, then WDM - MME is never going to give low latency/ good performance.

ofc I know on board sound card is bad. but when a 1000$ laptop get me where i need to go.  and make the software works ok for me.  Why dos it work crappy now. Only the motherboard it self is 80% of what the laptop did cost me.  I remeber i did get a Asio4all driver on the laptop too use the MIDI keyboard to get low lantency. but playback was never a problem. not if i did stay under 5 tracks.

The laptop did not support studio sound. The motherboard sound i have now support full EAX 5,1 Advanced HD and it support studio qulity.  but yes, its still a crappy sound card compare too others. But at last it shud work as good as the poor laptop.

I have downloaded the new'st driver too the onboard sound.

I just dont know what more i can do. turn it all down on low. Still i her the crappy sound craking.  and why dos it do that. Sonar have the abillity to go true the computer and test the diffrent set up. and it automatic set it on the hardware you have. but thats not working good i se.

I guss you need more info, can i take any print screen for you?  it has to be somthing wrong.

PS - laptop and the PC are running WDM/KS Driver mode.   works ok on laptop. works ****ty on the PC

Go here...
http://resplendence.com/latencymon

Get the latency monitor...
run it on your PC and post the results to this forum thread...

Then we will be able to interpret the results for you.

Thanks,

Eggs are not eggs. Onboard sound is crappy end off.

Not necessarily... Your five times more expensive laptop might have five times more crappy onboard sound.
If you have spend loads of money on a laptop at least buy yourself a half decent interface, even if it is a cheap one.

You're kidding yourself if you think you an get away with using a 2 cent onboard sound chip in place of a proper interface.

Come on man, you've invested a fair amount of cash into your computer, why skimp on the final part of the setup?

There are other members who have got good results using the onboard chip - but they are few & far between and probably running an older, less demanding version of Sonar and ditto for their Operating System.

Not sure I understand the second part of this, but why aren't you using M audio interface?  Which one is it?

I used onboard sound cards through Sonar 6 successfully.

I also used AsioForAll at times. I haven't done that in a while. One reason I did it when working with my laptop is to be able to mix music without having to drag the interface around with me.

I remember struggling with why some of the ProChannel plugs sounded bad to me (v8?) and when I plugged in my interface which I owned but didn't always use when not tracking, the problem went away.

I think that is when I switched to ALWAYS using my interface.

Regardless, if you are having trouble using your Sonar on your computer to mix music, plug in your M-Audio and use the ASIO driver mode. I think this is a good place to begin troubleshooting.

Yes yes and yes! On board sound sucks. I know it.  I will get a sound card, but like i did say. I was happy how it did run so i was not in a hurry on that part.
Her is the test from the Lantecy software. This did make me even more cunfused!

The Alienware Mx11 ( I used it with Sonar X1 )  XXX houers.  Yes buffer was not Fast but way over on the safe side. but it did work ok for me!
INFO
The software say it cant be used, but it did work. Not good. But ok!

The new better system.
INFO
The software say its ok. But NO. I can turn the buffer bar all the way too Safe! Still its not close as good as the laptop!

I really don't understand anything at this moment.
* I see some one talk about the audio interface. * all i did was first make the Sonar software work. I have not recorde or used any in or out on the M-audio card. All i wanted too do first was import a sound clip intoo sonar and playback it.  *first step first* Make the software work.

I did try send the playback out too my M-audio and true my Studio monitors. Still same buffer cklikking sound.

Thanks all for helping!  Really Thanks!
best support I have even seen so fast on any forum!
And I'm sorry if my English typing is bad some times. Try my best!

PS Added INFO.

I have a M-audio Mobilepre amp Mk2  and a Fierwier 410 audio interface.   When i want the sound from Sonar to go true the PC and out true the optical drive and to my 5,1 system. *playback only*   The audio interface are not in use. I use them only when i record instruments or use MIDI keyboard.

all the M-audio gear record sound intoo Sonar with 0 lantancy. but still playback sound is crappy. True sonar- PC  - speaker and true Sonar audiointerface - monitors.
whatever I do. Sound is crakking a lot, even on low setting and really bad compear to the laptop that shud not work (the laytency software say)

Disable intel speedstep and update your drivers and firmware everywhere. Run windows update.
Run chkdsk and defrag. Otherwise good luck with that.... ;)
