I heard video feature is getting some love in this update. Lets see.

No video in C sorry. We had our hands full sorting out as many compatibility issues as we could esp with the release of VST3. We wanted to resolve as many fundamental issues as possible before moving on to new features. We're still shooting to do some improvements in this area but can't announce anything just yet.

Well Noel I hope that Cakewalk keeps that coffee cup full for you. You guys have been busy. Can't wait to learn what's cooking at the bakery.

Noel, do you consider the stability issues with having multiple VST with Midi Out a fundamental issue, and will it be addressed in X3c? The release notes for X3b said it had been fixed, but it's till broken...

Stability:
  • Resolved a crash when using direct MIDI output with multiple VST Instruments simultaneously, such as multiple instances of JamStix or Catanya (CWBRN-5781, CWBRN-2504, CWBRN-2564, CWBRN-1739)

I think your approach of looking to close down the fundamental issues before moving on to dev of X4 is a really positive step; with X3 addressing so many other user concerns straight out the gate, it seems this is really in reach.

Not for X3C - as I mentioned X3C has primarily bug fixes and a some workflow improvements. There is a new VST related MIDI feature though :)
However I met with the VSL product manager yesterday and we had a nice chat discussing VSL and SONAR. No schedule or promises though since its vaporware at this point. It seems straightforward but until some more analysis has been done I won't know for sure. VSL is definitely a very cool product.

The original crash was definitely addressed - I reproduced and fixed it myself and tested with Jamstix. This is another variant that was not in our system. It probably won't make it into X3C due to time constraints but we'll definitely do our best to address it for the next update since its an important fix. Sorry for the delay but there have been a several lot pressing issues to address before this one.

I am very pleased with Sonar X3 already. These updates and hearing from Cakewalk staff here and there on the forum has been extremely positive.

Thank you very much for this info, so I hope it will be reality some day.

Noel, nice to see the level of transparency that you (and other Cakewalk staffers) have been showing recently. It's refreshing. As an unhappy Sonar 1-X2 user, who would love to be able to rejoin the fold one day, I hope this continues. From the outside, X3 looks like it was a pretty solid release. A few old bugs resolved (I've been in touch with Andrew already - waiting to hear back), and a few new features, and I'd probably jump right back on the Cakewalk ship if things keep trending in the direction they have been since X3. So kudos...
