  • VST scan on startup quirky in X3Pro

So far I'm really liking X3cPro. But my VST scan on startup is a little weird. Sometimes it doesn't come on or show the scan dialog at all. Sometimes it scans for just a second or two then goes away. And sometimes...quite often, in fact...it comes on and says "searching for plugs" for like, 5 minutes...then finally gives the ok and goes away. Also, it seems to want to scan my WAVES Waveshell all the dang time. This is happening WHEN NO NEW PLUGS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED. Anyone else seeing scan weirdness??

I have it set to not scan at startup but when I do scan it's pretty screwy. Yea Waves shows up all the time, I get some errors in the windows event log from it but all plugs work with out issue. I think the weirdness is because of the VST3 implementation. Since I checked both boxes "hide related vst2 plugs" and "replace vst2 plugs on startup" has made things a little less crazy.

I'm seeing the same weirdness here too.  Same issue with the Waveshell scan.
I changed the option for scanning new plugins on startup, but that didn't seem to stop it, however it did stop the other problem where it was rescanning my plugins every minute or so.

Whew!  Glad I spotted this thread.  I thought I had messed up the scan function myself by changing one of the search paths, and I've been trying unsuccessfully to fix it.  X3c has been working so well for me, I didn't think it would actually be a program problem.  I just turned off the scan altogether, and all the plugins I use seem to be available.

I perform scans manually straight after installation of any DAW related software. Otherwise it is turned off.
