I figured I'd throw my hat, err, I mean my mix into the ring.

There are still a few minor things I'd probably change if I had time but I'll be out of town so had to call it a day.

Wow Steve... I really like that. I mean, I like all of them so far, but yet again, that was different to the rest.

I liked your addition to the intro...

Good mix that

Thanks, Andy!

FWIW, the guitar line in the intro is the same as the outro - I liked that part and wanted to use it again.

that's a good version......
it's got a much less aggressive feel to it than some of the others,
sounds like you brought the energy of the individual tracks BACK, instead of forward,
which means when they all get put together,
they are a bit more homogenous.... which makes for a smoother mix.

i LIKE the aggressiveness of the other mixes....
but i think that was more a component of the way the stems were given to you guys...
they were already aggressive...

and when you mix 'all' aggressive tracks together, you get an aggressive mix.

and this song isn't really like that.

i'd say you made the mix better than the stems originally implied.

Wookie - thanks!  I'm glad it pleased your furriness.

Gonzo - wow, thanks for the comments.   And yes, you pretty much nailed my (somewhat subconscious) take on it, which was to systematically try to remove some of the aggressiveness for a smoother mix.   It's just the way I heard the song in my head vs. what the raw tracks sounded like.

so do I!

I wish you'd done more of that. the provided guitars aren't that spectacular and apart from that there's hardly anybody who tackles the mix creatively

Thanks, Robert!   I was going back and forth trying to gauge just how much to change the core arrangement, without going into "remix" territory.   A lot of what I did change is more subtle and mostly involves leaving out parts, quite a few actually, but the intro/outro changes are things I just had to do.

I like that and mostly play by that "rule" myself ... music needs air to breath and leaving out the less spectacular parts is IMHO a key thing to achieve this ... and if there is something missing in the arrangement, get it in there ...

I did a mix of these tracks myself but actually might have overdone the "leaving out" thing a little bit (according to a peer who I trust and who is dead honest) ...
