It sounds interesting. I am using Alloy 2 for a long time now (besides Ozone), and it's one of my preferred channel strip plugin's.

I wonder if users of Alloy 2 will get some price reduction. That would spark my interest even more. Anyway - I am sure there will be a demo version, so I certainly will try it out. If it's even more usable than Alloy 2, I think it's the next thing on my list (yeah - the same list Keyscape is on....oh dear...).

That's a good intro vid.

Hmm... Owners of Ozone or Alloy (and other plugins from Izotope) have a price reduction. They pay $99 for Neutron, and $149 for Neutron advanced...

I just requested a demo version, so I can test it out for myself.

And as I have both Ozone 7 and Alloy 2 I will get Neutron for the reduced price.
Tempting, tempting, tempting....

might be better to get the "music production bundle 2" upgrade if you qualify, you get Neutron Advanced, Ozone 7 Advanced, Nectar 2 Production Suite, VocalSynth, Trash 2 Expanded, RX Plug-in Pack, and Insight for $199 perhaps better at discounters. if you already have the original 'music production bundle and upgrade you nuetron advanced and the rx plugin pack and vocalsynth for $199 (or cheaper maybe) good deal, i already have 'music production bundle' and vocalsynth, going to do the upgrade and snag neutron adv and the rx plugin pack, then when a nother sale comes along with a good price to upgrade from the rx plugin pack to rx5 or rx5 adv . . . laughing

Interested to see what people think of this as it gets used.

Been playing with Neutron for a little bit. Here are some initial impressions:
  • Very cool new features: Track Assistant, Masking EQ, Dynamic EQ, various Limiter modes, etc. These can be useful as time-savers and helpful to find optimal track processing.
  • Nice GUI, in line with the latest Ozone look. May be a bit dark and hard to read for some -- maybe there's a setting I haven't found yet that would improve the contrast, but I found it difficult to make out some of the labeling.
  • Disappointingly high CPU usage, at least on my system. Much higher than Alloy 2, with typical presets engaged.
  • To my ears, better sound than Alloy 2. Although this is just a first impression.
Overall, it's certainly worth trying out, to see if it fits your particular tastes and workflow. For me, I like the features but can live without them for now. The CPU hit makes Neutron a no-go as a default channel strip on my system -- YMMV. Other channel strips like the Metric Halo or McDSP Ultimate are extremely CPU-friendly and easy to use, albeit not as feature-rich as Neutron. iZotope is to be congratulated for this, in any case. It's a next-level processor in several respects.

Will continue to play with it for the duration of the demo and report anything noteworthy.

Cheers,
Eddie
