with regard to reason.. sadly , no vst .. and YEP thats a MASSIVE (pun intended :) ) deal breaker.. I use it , but I'd prefer it to be a rack rather than a DAW tbh. it's something I've used for years, but I'd rather another DAW for mixing. (e.g. fabfilter fx etc :D )

Yeah, I really like Reason, but I think of it more as a plug in with muscles than an actual DAW. A setup with Reason coming into a more generalised DAW via rewire is a fairly mighty setup. On its own, not so much.

Exactly, these polls do not determine the "best" daw at all. What ever "best" means...
FL has the lead now with 25%...and Logic has 4%. Come on...

FWIW, The reader demographic will determines who "wins".
ie: FL Studio scores big on many of these online polls... but (IMO) it's not a traditional DAW application.
I'm not sure it means a whole lot...

X3 (for the most part) has been a well-received release.
Here's to the bakers on a job well done!

I think the best DAW is a matter of opinion and people select it on what works best for them. Logic is a great DAW. I happen to like Sonar the best, but that is based on my needs and my opinion.

These polls for the most part are opinion based and don't really reflect the best DAW, but these polls are a great marketing tool and people do look at those polls when considering their options for their first DAW purchase. I also agree that FL Studio is not a traditional DAW application. but being on a poll like this causes people to consider this application where they otherwise would not.

This marketing approach would be the incentive for Sonar to score higher in the poll.

far from the days of sonar 7 in the bedroom with a broken mic. its out the box power now, much better workflow and, at last more stable
 I voted =1

I voted but noticed it really was just being used as a means to increase their subscriber base. Means nothing really but nice to see Cake (always underrated) ahead in something (relevant or not).

I voted  but always find these kinds of polls somewhat unfair.  I know plenty of people who use multiple programs.  Plenty of people make "beats" in FL studio and export them to other programs for mixing.  In fact, despite the fact that it can function as a full fledged DAW, in my experience, it seems more people use it as a sampling drum machine on steroids than as a DAW.

Sonar is still in the lead, but by less than 10 votes.

To those that are pointing out Pro Tools being so far down in the popularity contest, I think you need to understand the demographics. I know a lot of Pro Tools users, and not one of them would take a moment out of their day to respond to a poll like this.

Just sayin ...

So as I understand it, if Sonar wins we're not cool anymore? Pro Tools users are too cool to vote so they lose the contest but win the coolness award. :$
