Anyone else having a problem installing a MidiSport 4x4 Anniv. Ed. MIDI I/F in Sonar X3?
For some reason, Sonar X3 refuses to "see" it, forcing me to keep using my older (but still quite functional) MidiSport 2x4.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Just for the sake of covering some or one basic, is the 4x4 plugged into the same USB port as when you initially installed the driver?  I have a 2x2 and it is very particular in this regard.

Also, it is the case that the drivers would have to be installed more than once (as mentioned above).  But I figure you know this stuff since you have a 2x4 already.

Kind regards,

I had nothing but trouble with my midisport 2x2 drivers after getting my new system.  I had several threads on the matter and called several places looking for help, but alas, I finally ended up getting a Mark of the Unicorn Fastlane 2x2 and it's been rock solid for me.  I am not saying that it's impossible to get your midisport working, but I couldn't make mine work.  It's a shame because the midisport is built like a piece of WWII equipment and I think it would survive getting run over by a truck,,, but the drivers don't seem to work, and I tried every suggestion I was given.  It turned out that the best recommendation I got was to try the Mark of the Unicorn.

Best to you!

I've had mine for years & IIRC the manual stated to disconnect it first before installing the software or drivers.
Not sure if doing it this way still applies today but I do anyway, never had an installation problem.
You might try it if all else fails.

(p.s. the latest drivers were released in May, not October)

I use the 4X4 Anniversary strictly for my 3 Mackie control surfaces (MCU and 2 extender) and it works fine 99% of the time. I couldn't get the newest drivers to work so I'm using older drivers.

The only problem I have is, from time to time (very random) the drivers get lost and have to be re-installed. Takes about five minutes. It bugs me but not enough to research it further.

I have two midisport anv. Edition and a midisport 8x8, which all use the same Win 7 64 bit driver. I do not have the latest driver but only one of these devises can be recognized at any given time. In the past the driver had a way of recognizing and utilizing different units. If the 2x2 drivers are the same as the 4x4 drivers , then that may be the problem.

OK  - did a from scratch, Windows 8.1 build, installed the Windows 8 Midisport driver, installed X3 Producer 64bit, and then booted up Sonar. I haven't opened any projects yet (still installing software), but both of my midisports are seen by Sonar.

Turns out the 4x4 AE is listed as "working properly" in the computer's device manager, along with the 2x4, but Sonar X3 only lists the 2X4...
So can anybody explain this odd behaviour?
Thx,

Try unchecking the 2x4 and checking the 4x4 in the midi devices list and see if the 4x4 works

Unfortunately, the 4x4 is not listed in Sonar even though it's listed in my computer's MIDI devices, which is what I'm trying to solve.
