I liked the VS-700C. It was my first choice; but after reading all the negative comments about Cakewalk not fixing things when X-1 and X-2 came out, I heard enough to end up going with the Mackie. The Mackie is solid built; the price is right; and has just the right amount of faders I need for the music I'm doing. Didn't want to drop $2,800 not knowing if the VS-700C will be supported when the next version of Sonar comes out.

Hey Rick... yeah, I hear ya. Hopefully, the VS700 will stay compatible for a long time because it's a great surface and I want to keep using it.

I've heard good things about the Mackie too, so I hope that works out for you.
