Which processing and instrument plugins included with X3 Producer will work in other host(s) installed on same machine? I am especially interested in which would work in Ableton 9 . This information could help me justify the upgrade cost of X3.

Sure these are not what you had in mind, but if you have a host that is capable of using Dxi synths, most if not all of those older synths work.  off the top of my head that would include  PSYN II, TTS-1 and cyclone.

I think the Cakewalk string, drums, electric piano and bass work.  Cakewalk sound center works, z3ta+ and z3ta+2 work. Dropzone, pentago, Square I, Session drummer as far as instruments.  RXP may work as well

As far as effects, again the DX ones work in other hosts that can support DX.  That would include the DSP fx and sonitus.  Not sure if any of them are 64-bit.  As far as VST, I believe VX64 vocal strip, Bifilter, boost11, TS-64 transient shaper ,  TL-64 tube leveler,LP-64 EQ, LP-64 multi-comp, PX-64 percussion strip all work

I tossed the mall in a channel on Reaper and they all worked.Toss in sfz and RXP.  The only one that may be tainted may be bitilter because I had that installed prior to X3 so it may be reading my pre-installed version

All the VST plugins work with Ableton Live 9. Ableton only lets you define one VST folder so if you have your plugins in multiple places, you may need to copy all the dlls to a shared folder. I made a VSTMerge folder so I wouldn't have to move or change anything in my Sonar environment.
I don't know if Ableton supports dx plugins.

in reading the OP again, it sounds like he has a previous version of Sonar and therefore most of the plugins listed already.  if this is about whether to upgrade to X3, Addictive Drums and Melodyne Essential alone cover the retail value of the upgrade but are the only new plugins that will work across hosts (the bifilter probably works too).

Thanks to everyone for taking time to look at this. Yes, I already have X2 Producer and evaluating whether to upgrade to X3 Producer. The more tools that work across applications, the easier it is to justify. There were VST's with X2 that were disabled outside Sonar, that is why I asked (like the piano). Addictive Drums is one that really helps with justification.

FYI: Ableton does not support dx plugins
