Since I installed X3, older projects I did in X2 open up with missing plugins. Not sure why. Any ideas anyone?

Good afternoon Rod

Please reset and rescan your plugins in X3 preferences.
If that doesn't work please search the forums in the text box above for "missing plugins"

Cheers

which ones? I upgraded from x2 to x3 and so far all of mine seem to be there.....but I had a lot so some might be gone, hadn't thought to look. Which ones are missing from yours?

OK please install X3C patch first.
Then check: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013315
If no luck go start X2, take a note of your plugin paths in preferences, pop them into X3 and repeat the reset.

Cheers...

Maybe I'm misunderstanding here. All my plugins and everything work fine in X3c. My problem is, my old projects that were created in X2b will no longer open properly in X2b. It says missing plugins. They were all fine before I installed X3. Could it have something to do with X3 switching VST2's over to VST3's? But, why should that affect my X2 installation?

Ah makes sense now, I am in the process of importing my projects that I created in x2; I'll report back if I encounter the same thing :) thanks for sharing!

I had hoped to be able to still open my X2 projects in X2 since I doubt very much will be compatible with X3. Too much has changed. I don't really want to have to add all new plugins and basically have to totally re mix all of my X2 projects in X3.

It shouldn't.

Let me make sure I am following your here.

When you now open X2, it's telling you that it can't find all plug ins? Or only certain plug ins?

Oh so sorry totally misread... please attempt a reset/rescan with X2 then..
Have you looked at the VST paths in preferences to see if they match up?
And what Grem said...

Thanks....

Wellllll, went down to the studio to try this stuff out and..... suddenly, everything is working just as it should! Old projects originally recorded in X2 now open just fine in X2! I didn't change a thing! But, hey! it works now!
