I am getting pops and clicks during recording. I am using an RME UCX Fireface. I am new to computer recording and would really appreciate some advice

Take a look at the content of this thread. Most often pops/clicks are associated with the audio and I/O buffers. They work in tandem, so some initial time spent tailoring them will help you (each system is different).

Welcome to the forum! When new to recording, this is a good place to check out threads to learn as you go.

It helps us to help you to know what kind of computer you are using as well.
 
This latency monitor can help tell us about your computer. Run it for 10 minutes or so and post the results to this thread. That will help determine if your computer needs to have certain things disabled before making a digital recording (like the wifi card).

Please list the following:
 
1.  Sonar Driver Mode (ASIO/WDM?)
2.  In Sonar, Sample Rate, Record Bit-Depth, and Reported Latency Values
3.  Sample Rate and ASIO Buffer Size of your audio interface (this may be expressed in number of samples or something like that, please list whatever it is currently set to - no matter what they are calling it).
 
I typically recommend starting with ASIO mode, a Sample Rate of 44.1 k or 48 k, a Record Bit-Depth of either 16 or 24 bits, and an ASIO Buffer Size of 128 (or if in number of samples, shoot for somewhere just underneath 200).
 
The above are a reasonable starting point for settings.
