• SONAR
  • Sonar moving in disturbing direction for me. (p.12)

vintagevibeHas Sonar's market share always been so big that it doesn't need the scoring and education markets?

I'm sure there was no hint of sarcasm there. The problem is not you voicing your opinion or displeasure..it's the nasty condescending way you do it.  Maybe your heart is so dark you don't even realize you do it. I will just leave it alone.  Your posts speak for themselves.  The fact that Craig responded with a virtual rewording of what he already had said speaks volumes.

Dark heart?  Condescending?  You got all that from my post?  You really need to relax.  Go have bear or a Lexapro.  Your blocked.

Just one word on notation... cakewalk should have a look at a product in the Boston neighbourhood... called Noteflight... web based notation making real inroads to music education.

Sometimes the answers or opportunities ar quite close to home....

We have ideas for making SONAR more attractive in education markets. We also discuss notation but it's a tricky subject. Either way, these conversations and ideas fall under NDA. Much like our competitors wouldn't share their future product road maps and strategies, we won't either. We are well aware of the market share, opportunities, ROI, etc. Hope that works for you.

Thanks Andrew. This is why I was very careful to state these were my opinions. I don't know what you have in mind for education or notation, but we should discuss it sometime

Craig, welcome to the world of being Cake staff on this forum.  Almost every response you give will be followed by a loaded question unless you magically tell them exactly what the person wants to hear.

Ha! I've been doing musician's forums since 1995, so I know what goes with the territory. However, I've also encountered Vintage Vibe before in other forums and his posts are generally thoughtful and he also contributes quite a bit. I do feel he falls somewhat into the "text is a crappy way to convey anything beyond the most basic thoughts" category. It's very easy to be misinterpreted through text-only media.

I should probably use more emoticons.

I wonder if other software types elicit such passion.
It's like dogs fighting over a bone. They just can't help it because it's in their nature.

Craig, text is a lousy way to communicate and i do sincerely hope I am misinterpreting his posts. I wish him or nobody else ill will.

Not to drag this out any further, but here's how it works on the Interwebz.

1. Person A's post is misinterpreted as being out of line.
2. Persons B, C, D, and E jump on Person A for being out of line.
3. Person A, not realizing what he said could be considered out of line by rational people, gets defensive and attacks persons B, C, D, and E.
4. Loop steps 2-3 multiple times.

There are only four possible endings.

1. Deterioration into giant flame war. Moderator closes thread.
2. Realization by one or more parties that things have gotten out of control. Apologies. Group hug.
3. Person A really is a jerk and was not misinterpreted. If same crap continues to happen, person A gets banned eventually
4. Sun collapses into a dwarf star. All life on earth ends. Forums become irrelevant.
