Hello Everyone,

Sonar X3c user here.   I just started playing around with the metering options.  I want to see RMS + Peak on my Busses with -24 resolution.  It seems like when I close the project and re-open, they reset to the default Sonar uses (Peak only @ -48 resolution).

Anyone see this ever or know what's wrong?

Thanks,
Adam

I'm not sure but I think there's a per project and default settings. See preferences (press P) I think the ones set on the meter itself are for that project only. Not at my daw to check for you.

There's a whole section on metering in the 2000 pg+ Sonar Reference manual. See from pg 899 onward.

There's a great little free plugin called Voxengo Span that has some great metering and frequency analysis functions. Here's a link. http://www.voxengo.com/group/free-vst-plugins/

Particularly is it's K System metering which is a must for Pro work. Google K system metering and any stuff by Bob Katz. He's a very well know engineer and author. It will really round out your knowledge and give you a leg up on your road to improving your mixing skills.

I reported the RMS+Peak record metering mode not sticking years ago. Once it was reported fixed, but it wasn't. I re-reported it, and I believe the CWBRN is still open.

EDIT: Well, what d'ya know... CWBRN-3949 reported fixed; must have missed the update.

And I just checked RMS+Peak persistance on buses, and that seems to be working okay, too. This was never a problem that I know of; my CWBRN only referenced Record meters.

Thanks. I didn't know that the setting not sticking was a known issue. Thought it was a difference between default and project settings.
