  • X3c - Zoom Fixed? Is this a joke?

I got excited seeing that zoom was fixed for the Lanes issue and I immediately tried it after applying the update...

At first I got excited because the image got large and reflected the time/track area that I lassoed...

Then I realized that it Zoomed the TRACK instead of the CLIP on the LANE....

What good is that? If I zoom (I use the Z key and drag the area to zoom) a clip on a lane, it means I need to see that clip to edit it...

What is the logic to zooming an image that is un-editable???

Can anyone please explain how this zoom action is a help to workflow???

I'm back to needing two separate zooms to accomplish zooming a clip and a Lane....

I got it.... If Cakewalk will make all their ProChannel modules to VST, I'd go back to 8.5.3 and give up everything else... <sigh>...

I'm really trying to visualize what you are saying here but I'm not sure I understand. Are you referring to the issues that had to do with the mouse zoom and fractional scrolling? Can you post a picture or a step by step of what exactly you are doing?

Hi Dan...

Here's the situation...

I have a track with a few Lanes and they are Open (exposed)
I hold Z while I click drag an area of a clip on one Lane

I expect that area to be the result of the zoom

Instead I get:

X3c - Track Zoomed Large to correct track and time range, but the TRACK area is large instead of the Lane where I need to edit!
Previously - Lane Zoomed Horizontally, and only a little bit of vertical...

I expect that the area I highlighted in the Zoom selection should occupy the screen...

Here's a pic of what I get... what's the purpose of displaying the track "image" where there is no editing allowed???

OK...

I think I see what you did to try solving this issue...
I'm supposed to look at the zoomed track area where my clip is displayed, yet edit on the actual clip area below...

A bit disconcerting, but I may be able to get used to it.... <sigh>...

NOT the solution I was hoping for... Let's see what happens when I have 16 Lanes or more...

Not good at all...

Here's what zoom gave me when there were a lot of Lanes...

That's sure not gonna help me see what I'm trying to edit!

Keni, what is that image actually showing?    I won't have X3c installed for a bit so can't try it myself.

Keni,

We fixed the issue where if you were on track 22, suddenly you'd be seeing track 1 again after trying to zoom in.
The zoom tool currently doesn't allow zooming into a particular lane.  We'll continue to look at improving this going forward.
Thanks for clarifying.

Thanks Keith...

I wasn't having an issue with what you mention above... I don't believe...

I'm glad you now understand my issue with zoom related to Lanes... It is currently a long process to zoom a Lane as it must be done with two separate commands... Editing in Lanes without a working zoom is very difficult right now... Even if I allow for the number of commands and mouse moves to get a zoom, I still can't fully zoom as I get stopped at a limited height that a Lane can have...

All the speed comping tools in the world aren't going to help me if I can't see! There has to be some way to turn off the Lane height limit so that zoom will isolate a Lane as it does a track!

Thanks for helping me understand the limit of the zoom fix mentioned in the FAQ...

Keni - it was nicely reassuring to see how much focus they are giving to understanding this issue for you.

This level of involvement from the Bakers has been incredible, and I thought I would give thanks for that to the Cakewalk folks.

Hi Bob...

Yes I agree with you completely... Their response was immediate and caring and I appreciate that very much too...

I'm sorry if I sound bitter at times, but it's not aimed at anyone... It's just my emotions boiling over during these times of great stress for me...

I hope I haven't offended anyone... If I did it was unintentional and I apologize profoundly...

Hi Steve...

It's showing the result of zooming on a Lane.... The first pic shows what happens when there are only a few lanes and the second shows what happens when there are a lot of Lanes...

Currently zooming on a lane displays the track and all it's associated lanes (if open) as if the entirety is a single track...

I want and need to be able to zoom a Lane by itself!

The sparse info regarding what was fixed regarding zoom was the confusion here.... There were no details in the list. -<sigh>
