You've got a sharp eye, 11. I didn't recognize SONAR at first, but the Sonitus Reverb was a giveaway.

Indeed. The product write up raves about Sonar Pro. Maybe it was too late or expensive to cancel the package. Maybe that's why Bakers still walk the halls. We'll never know.

Steinberg's Cubase LE DAW for macOS and Windows and Cubasis LE DAW for iOS are included free so you can start recording immediately.

Well so much for Gibson killing off SONAR.. It just now comes in a brand new VERY reasonably priced, easy to use preconfigured bundle package. How brilliant is THAT?
Take THAT Doommiester conspiracy theorists, BAM!
Not only is SONAR is ALIVE and well, it shall live on to breath new life and A BRUTALLY AWESOME level of POWER into resurrecting the Tascam PortaStudio.

I personally owned Teac 4 track tape, Tascam 8 and 16 track tape machines, duel DA88's digitals, and 3 generations of Tascam PortaStudios starting with tape and ending with Mini Disc machines and FreAk'iN loved them all.
And so the legend lives on.......

BTW, psst, I think a free copy of Steinberg's Cubase LE even ships with toaster ovens. And it's actually not bad at all, umm, that is until you compare it with SONAR Pro.

Don't know what to make of this but :
In 2013 Gibson Brands Inc. bought a majority stake in TEAC Corporation, the parent company of TASCAM.
I can't imagine Gibson shutting down Cakewalk if the product was going to be used by another of their companies..

I imagine this is just a case of more bad management of info. Tascam is under the umbrella of Gibson. Seeing as everyone knows that Gibson is killing off Sonar, why would anyone buy this product if it ships with Sonar. Looks to me like a bad case of synergy gone tits up.

i got a sonar disk with a boss (roland) product less than 6 months ago - wtf tascam weren't giving out sonar with their hardware the last few (gibson) years is frankly bizarre imo

So even if SONAR Pro is still being offered as a "free" bundle with equipment, that hardly indicates any commitment to development or even support in the future. If it is being distributed as a download link and serial number, that would at least provide some hope that the activation servers will still work for a while at least. Over the years I have accumulated a bunch of crapware with equipment purchases that turned out to have been pretty much dead-ended by the developer before they showed up in a bundle.
