Over the last few days, NI has updated pretty much every piece of software they produce - no doubt for the awesome new maschine studio integration.  Looking forward to some issues resolved, and some happy hours backing up and installing.

Yes! I just finished a full installation of Kontakt 9 Ultimate and all it's various updates and freebies. Truly a mammoth task. But I tell you one that was more annoying was all the Toontrack stuff which has to be installed one element at a time, like each MIDI pack, preset pack, EZMix packs etc. took hours and I didn't even have to reinstall all the SDX sample libraries. Enough whining, back to playing.

Thank you for the heads up! I have the service center disabled so would never have known this!

Yup, the Guitar Rig 5 update has annoyed the crap out of me.

Sonar now reports 'unable to find [guitar rig] plugin' in every &*%!$# project that uses it, which is pretty much every single one of my projects.  The GR DLL is named exactly the same and it's in the same damn place, but Sonar refuses to recognise it.

Sonar uses some kind of UUID for the plugin, which has obviously changed.  I don't know whether it's Sonar or GR generating this, if it comes from the registry or whatever.

I just wish the 'can't find plugin' dialog would give you the option to *search* for the DLL (why doesn't it do this?)  Pretty much every project has at least one instance of a tweaked GR patch and now I have no way of recreating all that work.  Some might be saved off as GR patches, but given that GR has well over 500 I doubt if I can remember exactly which patch was in each and every instance of GR.

This is incredibly annoying.  It's happened before when upgrading Rapture.  I might yet encounter it when opening projects with Reaktor player, which also got updated.

Cakewalk, can you do something about this?

@ston  Do a full re-scan of plugs.

Go to prefs>file>vsti settings, change auto scan to manual, check rescan failed plugs and re-scan existing plugs.  Press reset, wait a while as it does this, then hit scan (not sure if need this step), and then all should be well.

edit  -  I believe you may lose custom plug in lay outs or some such

+1, I have X3 set to scan VST's only at startup... and it found the newer dlls for me.

When I first launched GR5 after the update it also gave me a message that freaked me out .... "Scanning presets, all have been removed." But is started to scan on its own and found them all (even my custom ones!). That was a long wait to see what GR5 was doing, but is up and working fine.

If you do not have Maschine, you may want to consider whether you actually want these updates...if you do have Maschine, these updates are necessary to use Komplete with Maschine 2.0

And if you do have Maschine..read the NI forum carefully before upgrading to 2.0.. personally I think its 6 months away from stable...

and hey, even If you don't have Maschine, its solid reading.. it puts the minor quibbles with X3 into a better perspective :)

The Absynth update was over a Gig in size...totally ridiculous....I expect a whole new synth for that kind of download!
