Hi peeps,Wondering if maybe its time for an upgrade.I have been using SHS6 for a few years now and have had absolutely no problems recording my band and my solo stuff.Theres an old saying"if it ain't broke don't fix it",but upgrading is different.I used to be a regular on here so I am wondering if RobertB,Beagle and or Gregy if you guys are still around? and I respect your input so asking you is a positive.Have you tried and liked any new cake software?

My two bits -- I tried shifting my HS6 to a Windows 7 64-bit system and have nightmares.  YMMV.  Others seem to not have problems.  But if it ain't broke and there is nothing specific you want to add, be happy.

Hi Rick. Good to see you around.
I was a big fan of SHS6. Rock solid on my (recently deceased)XP system, and fine on my Vista machine.
As cwestmont noted, it it not entirely at home on the newer systems, and success seems to be hit and miss.
The X series had some well documented teething problems in X1 and X2, but X3 seems to be matured.
It is better suited to a W7/S8 environment than SHS6. I've only had X3 Studio for a few weeks, but I am liking it.
The interface is more flexible and functional. Some thing are not where you are used to them being, so there will be a bit of a learning curve.
To make it worthwhile, I would suggest at least the Studio version ($149 as an upgrade for you).
If I'm reading it right, you could upgrade to the Producer version for $399.
Here is a comparison chart for the different versions:

I went with Studio because it fit my budget and needs. So far, I am pleased with it.
Happy hunting.

Howdy.
Still on SHS 6 and XP here.
I don't need most of the stuff on the newer programs and I'm chintzy, so I'm saving money and still able to record.
I plan on keeping SHS for as long as the music computer lives.
I loaded it on my internet computer (W 7 64-bit) and it seems to run okay, but I don't have an interface for it and haven't been able to do any serious recording with/on it.

Hey guys.. I posted a question ( a couple of days back) about noise after a PC upgrade. Having read the comments above, is there any possibility that Win 7 and HS6 could be causing the problem - and maybe an upgrade would help???
