Check this link for info on the missing msvcr110.dll - it's from the C++ redistributable.
You may ned to download and install it.

X3c update may fix it, but the problem, with mine, is that X3a and the X3b patch can't be installed as 64 bit version, what I want.   If X3c fixes it, I would need a complete new version with the "c" incorporated to install. Just having the "c" update won't really help me.

Sonar update patches are accumulative. That is. The disc release of Sonar X3 didn't include the x3a patch like the download release did. Nonetheless, the X3b update could be applied to the disc version of X3 because it included the a +b patches rolled up into one. When X3c is released it's most likely to be an update including
a + b + c.

As for the regsrv error with ocx dll means that one or some of the DX plugins weren't registered properly and won't work.

I have the msvcr110.dll file in the two proper Windows folder locations.  Its Sonar that is not recognizing it and as the error notes, reinstalling Sonar is required to fix it.  But with the Sonar installation error, Sonar is not installing what it needs for the OCX error, Sonar can't be reinstalled.  I'm not the only one, from other posts on this and other threads, with the Windows 8.1 problems.  I don't know if the Windows version is an issue, i have 8.1 Pro.

Trying to reinstall X2, which worked OK with Windows 8 also comes up with the exact same OCX error when trying to install in Win 8.1, from a "clean" install.

Sonar X3a and the b patch install and work properly with the 32 bit version in Windows 8.1.  This is a Sonar 64 bit issue only with Windows 8.1, as Sonar X3 64 bit version installed and worked OK with the basic Windows 8.

Have you contacted technical support? No one here seems to be able to advise so it may be an issue CW needs to be aware of.

I'll second the notin of tech support esp seeing as ,you've reinstalled so many times.
There was an issue with the C++redistributable library's a few years ago that only effected some users and Cakewalk were able to sort it out.

This is a problem that definitely needs the Cakewalk touch. Be gratefully you're US based.

I have a report in to Tech Support that I submitted early yesterday.  No response yet.  However, I originally opened a program bug report, CWBRN-20980 and it was closed, fast without obviously really looking into it, saying it was an individual user problem and to open a tech support request.  As its more than me from posted reports, it would appear to be a software issue and not just an isolated user problem.

As fireberd is stating - I too have this problem. I submitted a report to Cake over a week ago and have not received a response. ??

After spending hours of installing/uninstalling (rinse/repeat) - I wiped the hard drive and installed a working backup of Win 8.1 preview. So I at least have X3 working fine for now.

On that note - I had to roll back to my safety (and fully functional) copy of Win 8 pro to install the official Win 8.1 release. You can't download it easily otherwise. The preview version has no part in this new problem. I do find it frustrating that Win 8 and Win 8.1 preview works great with X3 but Win 8.1 official release won't allow me to open anything Sonar X#. Every other program I opened in Win 8.1 official release worked as expected.

I just read, on another site, that X3c update was supposed to make X3 Windows 8.1 compatible and to be released "late October".  It is now (very) late October and it hasn't been released.

Possibly that is the answer, although X3a and b, 32 bit version IS Windows 8.1 compatible.

@fireberd: That is what I'm waiting for... X3C

I can't imagine this problem lingering too long.

I'm going to let this hang for a while and hopefully Sonar will get their act together.  I've got recording sessions scheduled through the next week - two new 10 song CD projects and a remix on one I just finished.
