I give up!! I know I'm overlooking something really simple, but I've searched the index, knowledge base, FAQ's, this forum to no avail. Bouncing tracks was so easy in MC6, A lot of sonar X3 looks the same alough much seems to be more user friendly. Yet I am stuck trying to bounce two tracks out of a project together. Every time I try, 27 so far, I started counting, The two tracks emerge as two 'cloned' tracks instead of a 'consolidated track. I tried the consolidate function but all it does is copy all tracks separately into a separate folder.  I'm sorry, but I'm really frustrated, I have spent over three hours trying to do this simple task so I can save my work and go to bed. It shouldn't be this hard I know. Can somebody please help me?

What do you mean by 'bounce tracks out of a project altogether'?

In X3

If bouncing tracks to a new track (combining tracks together) ...
1) In the Track View select the tracks you wish to bounce (highlight the track numbers of tracks you want)
2) In the "Tracks" menu above the Track View select "Bounce to Tracks"
3) In the dialogue box that pops up, it will default to the next empty track number
4) In source category Channel Format of "Stereo" will give you one stereo track, "Mono" will give you two tracks (L and R mono respectively). Choose options you want, and click OK.
5) You will get a new track from the selections you have chosen

To export audio is similar... you must chose the track(s) you want before opening the export dialogue...
1) In the Track View select the tracks you wish to export
2) File -> Export -> Audio...
3) A dialogue will open allowing you to name the file and select option you want. Select these and click "OK"

Sorry, I mean, I have eight tracks in a project. I am trying to combine two of the tracks together in a separate track to export as a single file. this was I simple procedure in MC6, I simply highlight the tracks I wanted to bounce/mix together, and chose 'bounce tracks' and they would emerge together as a single track at the bottom of my project. The original tracks would be left unscathed in their original position. In sonar, all the 'bounce track' function does or all I can get it to do, is to simply duplicate each selected track at the bottom of the project. I apologize of the confusion, Thanks for the reply though!

Thanks Mett! that is indeed the procedure I have been trying to accomplish for hours. I do select the stereo option as to not get two mono tracks. I just get additional copies of whatever I chose to 'bounce'.

Another source for you is the X3 reference guide is also a good resource for you if learning X3  http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013322

Granted this file is HUGE (2094 pages) but is searchable (Ctrl-F). The Bounce to Tracks dialogue explanations have more detail on page 1703.

You are saying you are doing what I explained and you are getting duplicate tracks instead of a bounce?

If so, which version of X3 are you running?

Sonar X3a  build 209  x64,
thanks again, yes, I am indeed doing your instructions to the T, and it does always default to the next available track, (and I choose Stereo) although when it bounces, I get two stereo tracks that are exact duplicates of what I had tried to bounce. Thanks, I will read and see what I am missing.

X3c is the most current version, you may be dealing with a bug from X3a there. I have X3c and cannot replicate it (is working as expected).

The support page for X3 has the patch updates linked in it http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/product.aspx/SONAR-X3
