  • Ctl-spacebar not returning to start point

I use this all the time while I'm recording... I automatically hit ctl-spacebar to stop and return to the start point...

Only now it's not working? Is there an option to turn this on/off somewhere? I this as intended, or is it a .....bug?

Keni...

PS... I'm gonna re-boot Sonar and see if that changes anything...

Hi Keni,
I wonder if you have changed the default behavior of the space bar. The default behavior is to stop and rewind to the start point upon pressing space, and stop with no rewind on cntrl-space. If you go to options and un-select "On Stop, rewind to now marker" that behavior is reversed.

If you're used to having cntrl-space rewind to the now marker you've probably been working with that option un-selected.

Good luck,
Dean

Thanks Razorwit...

I thought of that too and went to check/change it...  Now I'm confused by it...

In TV under the Options menu (not in preferences) is the option:

On Stop, Rewind to Now Marker and it is checked! Tho it doesn't mention using the ctrl key... If I DISABLE it (remove the check, it returns to working correctly... Has this suddenly been reversed?

I'll see if I can figure out how to add this discovery to the bug report I just filed regarding it not working at all... Or is this as intended and I'm thinking backward... I don't remember the last time I touched that command....

The default as far as I know has always been just Space bar to stop & rewind.

Yes... I remember in the past turning off the rewind feature as I didn't want that as the default for space... Spacebar is just for start/stop. I am used to using ctrl-spacebar when I want to stop and return to start...

But right now with the item under Options in the TV's frame checked. It only stops where it is... If I disable it, it stops where it is if I press spacebar alone and if I use ctrl-spacebar it returns to start point... (this is what I want)

And if I enable the rewind to now marker (with a check) It then will not return to now marker with either spacebar or ctrl-spacebar...

Something's wrong somewhere...

I don't see that behavior, if I press Spacebar it stops & rewinds to Now Time with the Option checked in the TV and Stops without rewind with Cntrl Space.  Un-checking the Option reverses it.

It's working ok for me right now, but it doesn't auto rewind... Something I never use... But if it's a bug, others might be disturbed... I'll dig more here and see what happens... Maybe a reboot for the machine. Something I avoid until the last moment as I takes so long here... It's a good 15 minutes until I hear the machine finish its bootup...

Thanks for testing it for me...

as far as I know the way ive been using it since the x series,
I hold cntl+spacebar and it stops me right at the point I hit them both,
I hit space bar only to take me to the beginning of the project. or at least that's how I have it set ,default wise.
I wish I could help you with the options, but I really don't use those much keni :(
sorry buddy.

Thanks chuckebaby...

I was fine with it.. I long ago changed the behavior to stop we're is with spacebar and using Ctrl-spacebar returned me to where play last started... Which is the option I'm now getting with it unchecked as before... I guess I might have accidentally clicked on it somewhere, but I don't recall being in that menu anytime recent... That's OK, but I discovered that with the option to auto-rewind enabled, it is not returning...

So my original post was related to net getting the rewind I usually do and somehow the option got changed. I believe it should have been carried over during the install as I don't remember the last time I changed that control... But I now find that when toggled on, it is currently not rewinding with or without the Ctrl modifier...

Might need to reboot the PC but as I never use it the othe way, I'd rather use time to get back to the work I was doing...

BTW... I don't think it ever did an auto-return to zero unless I had started playback from the top...?

Thanks for checking this for me... I'm back to working and I filed a report anyway ;-)
