Hi,

Writer's Block, for me, is a weird concept ... I work on the instinct anyway, so at any time I will get up and go write something, and it might take me 5 minutes, it might take an hour or much more. Poems are like that for me, even in the middle of the night, a line shows up, and I get up and go write it and continue on it, since the "inspiration" is right there.

Being, so internal, for me, the only requirement is feeling OK inside. For example, if I am having some bad moments with the blood pressure headaches and they are compounded with a cold/flu, then, the amount of lines is difficult and writing, has very little continuity for me.

Since most of my work is about that visual continuity ... there is a "movie" in my head all the time ... and it can get triggered a lot of times by music, which is one of my biggest sources of livelihood.

But what comes out ... that's another story, and my thoughts are that you MUST let it all come down, regardless, without thinking of anything mechanical. In other words, let it flow until it's done and over. WHERE, this process gets hurt the most, is when you stop it all the time, and then wonder why your intuitive side does not work ... because you stop it too many times! And you end up "intimidating" it.

Most composers, at least the good ones are borderline paranoid and see patterns in everything.  If a Bingo game spurs some creativity, why not?

I really liked this video.  This guy has a very natural ear for harmony and melody.  It was fascinating to watch him work.

Lastly, in the "for whatever it's worth category" the tendency to see unrelated patterns in events is called "apophenia".   Maybe you'll be a contestant and "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" one day and that will be the last question.  "Now, Bitflipper, for one million dollars . . . ."

Man ... all we're doing is giving the German band "FAUST" some credibility. BAPU ... can you get a hold of that cement mixer?

Is there a pill for that?

After watching this video again
The real thing this fella has going on is that he knows how to superimpose hipper chord changes and cadences
(that weren't based on the chords the dice came up with ) underneath his auto generated melodies to give the simple melodies a nice solid harmonic foundation ..

For that to happen and sound good , you don't need dice ..you need a solid knowledge of music and music theory ...
