Probably a silly question....but where do you download the packages on the Command Center?  All I see are options to Uninstall, Reinstall, Roll Back and Delete Files.

If I want to get the various items off there in nice, neat, installable packages, (Sonar Platinum, L-phase EQ/Comp, Rapture, etc, etc), for when servers do finally go down (and we'll hopefully receive a "defeat" for the online authorization), am I just missing where the option is located?

Or does it not exist in that format?

And since everyone is also voicing opinions about this whole situation, it's a shame.  I've used one or two other DAW's very slightly (Reaper, and one other), but I've been using Cakewalk pretty much exclusively since the late 80's....and was able to see just how far it had come since those early days.  A pity that things are what things are.)

On your name in the online installer. It should take you to your account page on the cakewalk website. From there you should find a list of all your registered products and links to download pretty much everything.

You should also make sure to record all your serials and registration codes. I took screenshots of my account, and cut and pasted the text right off the page for all my various codes, purchase dates and misc details.

I actually have that information going all the way back to Cakewalk v2.0 (for MS-DOS). I keep it in a spreadsheet. I never thought it would become an artifact of history - just a handy place to keep my rollback information. I've never actually needed to roll-back, as far as I can remember.

+1 The best thing we all can do right now is take the time, which might be a few hours, go to your products page and download everything and back it up to at least 3 hard drives.
Also as said- copy paste all the serial numbers to a txt document or make screen shots.
I made a txt documnt so everythings in one place
I copy paste the title of the item  then the serials and the date of purchase.

I like your sig, John. "Sonar Platinum Until it Dies". Sounds like a worthy battlecry to me. :)

Ahh...thanks for the responses....Downloading now....and I always back up to three places.....two here and one offsite.  (Because break-ins and natural disasters DO happen ;-)  )

And yup.....get a screen shot of your serial/reg codes!

+1 Archiving all serial numbers and relevant info from CW Site.

For the first few large install files, I've instigated a "reinistall" in Command Center then stopped short at the prompt asking if I wanted to install now. By saying no, it has left the install file in my folder designated for such files. I will continue this and report back if there's any gotcha to this method. ( direct download from CW site will be the next most logical option)

When you Install or Reinstall using the Cakewalk Command Center (CCC) executable installers ARE downloaded to your PC.

Launch/run the CCC and click on the "gear" icon in the upper right corner.  This opens the "Setting" window.  Select the "Paths" Tab, and look for the "Command Center Download Path" information.  This is where the CCC downloads the installer files.  The default location (on a Win 7/10 computer) is:  C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Command Center\Downloads.

To make sure I have backups of all of my product installers I have done the following:
1) deleted all files in the Download Path
2) Used the CCC to Install/Reinstall one single product -- e.g. Rapture Pro
3) After the product is installed I moved all of the installer files for that product to a unique directory -- e.g. C:\01_CW_Rapture_Pro_Installer
4) Making sure the Download Path is empty, then Install/Reinstall another product -- e.g. Sonar Platinum, and install and backup installer files
5) Repeat the steps above for all of the products you want to backup.

I also created a spreadsheet that lists each product, the lastest/last version of the product, and the Serial Number and Response Code (if available) for each product.

The end result is you have all the installers for all of your products.  What you are MISSING for some of them are Registration Codes, i.e. you still need to use the CCC to authorize the installs.  For example, I have the original Rapture for which I have both a Serial Number AND a Registration Code. I don't need the CCC for this product.  I also have the newer Rapture Pro, for which I only have a Serial Number (no Registration Code).  This means I still need the CCC and the Cakewalk Authorization Servers to reinstall some of my products.

In another thread it was mentioned by Cakewalk's CTO Noel Borthwick that IF Cakewalk Authorization Servers are ever shut down then all legal owners will be issued a file that will allow for authorizations:

I agree with this very strongly.  The serials/versions conundrum with the Sony ---> Magix changeover is still a nightmare for me.  I kept up with every version of VEGAS, Sound Forge, and ACID from their inceptions.  When Sony still held the rights, accessing those things was a breeze.  Right now, I'm hoarding installation disks, and haven't purchased any Magix updates for any of the programs yet. FWIW, Magix support of Sony products is horrible!
