  • Future Sonar Installs - Install Order?

Just thinking out a loud here, I assume if in the future we need to reinstall, does the install order matter? Of course install the main program first. Just curios. There is an awful lot of installers...

I would install SONAR Platinum and Platinum core first. This is the basic SONAR install.

Then install the plug-ins, order does not matter:
Classic Creative Suite
Engineering FX Suite
Studio Instrument Suite
Artist Instrument Suite
Platinum Instrument Collection
Studio Mixing Suite
Drum Replacer
Boutique Suite
Cakewalk Sound Center
Boz Collection
Rapture
Dimension Pro
LP-EQ
LPMB
Z3ta+2
CA2A

Then install Rapture Session (or Pro) and its related installers. Order matters here because Rapture Session/Pro looks for existing Cakewalk Sound Center, Dimension Pro and Rapture installs to build its registry and program folders.

Then the content installers.

Theme editor, Documentation and Tutorials anytime after the basic install

Forget the Melodyne and XLN installers supplied by Cakewalk. Use the installer in your Celemony account and the XLN installer.

Skip Landr if not using the mastering service.

Skip the Command Center if manually installing and activating.

Thank you scook. I will probably sort them into folders.

Hi Scook. Thanks for the useful information. If I do a manual installation as you mention above, which of the products require separate activation? I see Chuck recommends doing a separate installation on a backup computer with Offline Activations. I presume this is so you then have a copy of the activation file should you need to install again (ie. should the Command Centre go down in the future)? The website shows how to do these Offline activations for Sonar PLAT itself and for Rapture Pro / Session/ CLA-2A & Z3TA+2. Are these the only products requiring generation of an Offline activation code? Would you also therefore recommend that we're safer doing a manual installation / activation now rather than use the CCC on a fresh computer? Thanks David

In addition to Platinum, Rapture Pro/Session, the latest CA-2A and z3ta+2, the L-Phase EQ and MB use the new activation method.

There's no difference in the end to what you'll have either using offline or Command Centre.  I tried the offline on a back up computer just to see if it worked. It worked exactly the same as using CCC but is a lot work to keep track of things. I ended up missing a few plug in packs.
So offline works, but using CCC give same results and is much easier.
If it is a fresh computer then you'll end up with all the files you need in the CCC download folder. Make sure you back that up 3x over. And copy all your serial numbers which you find on your my product page.

If I've downloaded all my installers, and have a log of the serial numbers - is there any reason to keep command center? Have most of you guys uninstalled CCC at this point?

The only reason I will leave it installed for now is we might need it one more time to update Sonar to it's last version that will allow future installs without the server.
Of course this might just be a patch we can install from out product page too. But CC is harmless and takes up little HD space as it sits. It's no worse than a lot of other useless software that came with W10 that you can't even remove.

Yep, same here. Best leave it installed for the time being.
