Hi All,
I've had Melodyne crash twice today and bring Sonar down with it. To be honest, I don't know which is crashing first, just that they both end up with (Not Responding) in their titlebars.
I don't remember what I was doing the first time, but the second time, I went into Settings and changed the location of the Recordings folder. Melodyne advised me to save, but I haven't been through all the tutorials yet, so I wasn't sure how to do that. So, even though Sonar wasn't showing an asterisk in the titlebar, I clicked on the Sonar window and hit Ctrl-S. That's when it all went bye-bye.
Can anyone shed light on this?

The project I'm working on is using a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit plugins.
 
Also, I did the recommended tweaks, if that has any bearing.
 

Can only speculate on this one. When you say "I went into Settings and changed the location of the Recordings folder." do you mean within SONAR? If so, it is possible that either SONAR and/or Melodyne got invalid pointers to the audio you were working with. Because of the ARA integration one may affect the other. If either was trying to read from where you just told them to read from, and nothing was there, it can cause this. It will throw an "exception error" that if not specifically handled in the coding will cause a program not to respond.
 
For this reason, it is best to only change folder locations without a project actually open.

It was in the Melodyne plugin.
I'm not 100% sure at this point, but the problem may be that I was using the 32-bit Melodyne. I was actually looking for another plugin when I found Melodyne under the VST3 sub-menu in Audio FX.
 
Also, I changed the buffer size in Sonar, but I don't know if I did it in the right place. Does this look right?

Well, I've tried all the obvious ways to embed an image in the above message, but it doesn't seem to be working. PNGs not allowed on here? I'll try jpg (shudder).

It's working very well here.
 
I have never set my buffer size to 1024 on the odd occasion Melodyne has asked, and not run into any problems.  I guess, if I start to have issues, I'll bump the buffers up, but, otherwise, I'll just let them be.

Hmmm... I've been installing/uninstalling so much lately, I really don't remember.
I did manage to find the 64-bit version hiding under the VST3 menu. I've only seen it there about three dozen times since I installed and yet didn't remember that was where it was. (doh!)

I set the Buffer Size to 1024 in:
(Sonar X3) Preferences > Sync and Caching > File System > Playback I/O Buffer Size
and in
(Sonar X3) Preferences > Sync and Caching > File System > Record I/O Buffer Size

I think the problem with posting images may be Google Drive, so here's another try:

I am glad you are asking this so that someone can pipe in to confirm. Initially I thought this as well, but the file system (I/O) buffers are for talking to your media (hence KB). I *think* the buffer Melodyne is referring to is your audio buffer (samples), which is in Preferences -> Audio -> Driver Settings ... near the bottom of that screen ... if you are in ASIO mode, this is linked to the ASIO latency you choose (for me, 128 gives me 10.6msec of latency, 468 samples) ... I have to set the ASIO to 512 to hit the minimum 1024 samples that Melodyne is asking for (28.0msec, 1236 samples).
 
But back to your other comment, this is not my ideal 128, so switching it back and forth is not "ideal" at all.
 
For my system, I keep it at 128 for ASIO and 512 for the I/O buffers. I had the I/O buffers at 256 for a long time until I played with the X3 Demo project. When I tried to save it, I got a pop-up saying "general program error" but X3 kept running and wouldn't save. Since I was using that project to tailor my system it finally occurred to me what it was from. Putting the I/O buffers to 512 let me save without issues.
