This is quite literally the first post I have seen outright saying that X3 isn't any good. I've seen tons of similar posts about X1 and X2 but never X3.
So everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) else is wrong? If you are going to urge people against buying it at least explain why so they can make an informed decision. Seriously I personally am paying close attention to all the issues posted so I can know what to expect. So far they all seem rather minor and the bulk of them related to the C patch which should be corrected soon enough at the pace the Bakers are going these days.
This isn't an attack on you or your opinion and lord knows I've posted some not so positive stuff in the past but let's get some facts up in here. Please.
I agree. Mattie, you are obviously frustrated. If everything is going south on you there may be a harware problem or something else that someone like Karl or phone support can help you figure out. What sort of computer and interface are you using? You are awaure that it wont run on XP right?
Personally I think it is a great value and worth more than the price. I am amazed at all the things that Sonar X3 is capable of, truly.
I would add that learning to use a DAW is possibly the most frustrating thing I have ever done but X3 with a decent computer is a WHOLE lot less frustrating than trying to get things to work with some of the earlier versions like Sonar 4 or 5 back when the hardware required to make it run smooth was out of my reach financially. Windows 7 64bit has been wonderful. Affordable memory and interfaces, heck an affordable computer... and great software like X3 have really changed things in a good way for me.
I certianly understand how frustratng it can be though. You try and by the time you get something figured out, something else pops up and by this time all creative energy has been replaced by frustration... lay it aside for a bit, come back only to have forgotten what you learned before. However, it shouldn't be this hard now.. once you get help and get past whatever is giving you trouble. Recording yourself has never been as easy as you think it will be. PEople make short Youtube videos of this and that, doing all kinds of things... it always looks easy. Heck, on TV they completely remodel a house in less than an hour and don't even get dirty.
Hang in there, post your system specs, your interface, and ask a specific question... what is it that is not working for you (not "everything") just start somewhere and there are a LOT of people here who will help you. Karl is one of the best!
