Sonar 4.

But it stopped with X2.  I'm not interested in a product distributed by Tascam.

The product is still being developed by Cakewalk and you can buy upgrades direct from Cakewalk, just as in the past. I am not sure what the distribution matters to you but ok.

Version 2 on our IBM AT in 1988 running Dos 3.  512KB memory on the system board, with an Intel Above Board to blow out the memory to 2Mb.  Dual high capacity floppy drives with a 20Mb hard drive.

CW Pro 9 Got it free with my sound card.

Then got Sonar 1 at mars music during a CW demo for cost.  Upgrades all the way since then.

Mars is out of business and so is the maker of my sound card....but Cake has prevailed.

Not sure of the version but it was in the Win 95 era. Really vehemently disliked it, or I disliked making music inside a computer (which is really strange considering I write software). Stuck to my Roland VC-2400 (I think it was called). The Roland got stolen and I wanted a tool I could take into work so I loaded up my version of Sonar 7; almost immediately updated to 8.5 (on a lappy). This was about 5 or 6 years ago.

Been loving it ever since.

Sonar V2 here. Before that MIDI was just something I as a guitarist didn't understand or need (or so I thought) - Guitar Tracks Pro, portastudios, and hired studio time were the order of my recording days pre V2.

I think it was Cakewalk 2 or 3 for Windows 3.1.  It was delivered on a single 3.5" floppy.  I'm just a new kid on the block compared to the 5.25" guys

My first "real" midi I/F was a Key Electronics Midiator MP-128.  Very cool piece of kit for the time.

I'm not bothered who distributes it, I just wish that somebody would ;)

As for the OP my first cakewalk product was something to do with Aerosmith that let you mess with one of their tunes, but I can't remember what it was called. Sonarwise - version 5.
