Wow! That was painful... There must be an easier way that I didn't think to try?
 
I just added a drum map for Addictive Drums (Created by Subjacent aka Jason Grey) and in the process of adding it to Sonar found myself "trying" to scroll through the drum list selection....
 
It will not accept fast scrolling thru the list and forces a click one at a time to show next, next, next.... I'm glad I don't have to keep looking for a Yamaha Drum Map!...
 
Can anyone tell me if this is only my machine (?) or if there is indeed another way to select a Drum Map?
 
I'm off to Feature Request a better method... I can think of many! ;-)

It must be you, because I can whiz through the list of drum maps. There a scrollbar for the list in the drum map manager, BTW.

Here are a couple of ideas:
Delete the drum maps you do not use from "Your user directory\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Your Version of SONAR\Drum Maps". If you wish, make a copy of the original drum map directory first. Keep in mind that the drum map directory is a copy of C:\ProgramData\Cakewalk\Your Version of SONAR\Drum Maps" so there is always a way to get back the full complement of drum maps.

Once a drum map is selected and the drum synth is configured, save the drum setup as a project and/or track template.

I'll see if it can be accessed via the Manager itself instead of selecting it from the track's output widget.... that was painful...
 
I have updated my templates for Addictive Drums as for now it's the only Drum Map I need...
 
I don't want to remove any drum maps so that they're available if the need arises...
 
BTW... I don't know why it was stuck before, but now it will allow scrolling by holding the mouse button down... It wouldn't work earlier...? But it is still too long a list to have to scroll that way. I should be able to either jump by pages or filter search....

 Keni, I immediately delete all the stock drum maps as soon as I go looking for one the first time after installing Sonar And then drag the six of them that I use into the folder. In the stock drum map folder is a loooooong list of hardware and software maps for products I don't have and will never have. I am sure many of them are actually obsolete. If you use drum maps ever, do yourself a favour, and do like me or else keep the ones you actually use in a separate folder and point Sonar towards that folder in preferences.
 You have wandered into about the only Sonar-related subject that I can speak to with authority (insert"smiley face" of your choice here). Seen?

I also create track templates for using Battery 3 with drum maps, and it is super quick to insert one of those track templates.
 
Hope that helps - give it a try, I think you will find it way faster.

+1 on setting up your own drum map directory and using that. The only ones in mine are the ones I use.

What I do is delete all the maps I will never use. That makes so much faster to find the ones I use.

I would do something along those lines, but for me having the list is important for when a client comes in with a project that can use one for a fast remap...
 
I often simply spend a few minutes remapping the sounds by dragging them around in PRV to match my drum module's needs as it's often as fast for me as locating and inserting a drum map! ;-)
 
The only reason I was trying this is to try forcing Sonar to display the sample names instead of the keyboard in PRV as it does for Session Drummer, BFD, DR008 etc...

If you do want to find a Yamaha drum map from the huge list, just hit 'Y' and the cursor will move to the first 'Y' entry
