Hey folks

I'm planning on installing my upgrade this weekend but have a question. I've got X1 Producer Expanded installed with my original Dimension Pro and Rapture synths that came with Sonar 7 Pro Suite. I honestly can't remember how did the upgrade from 7 to 8.5 then to X1. So my question is............is it best to uninstall X1PE and everything that goes with it or can I install X3 then uninstall X1 while leaving the instruments intact? I really hope I'm making sense here............

Cheers in advance

Hi Mr.Softy me old buddy from the dark side (Reason...and Aussyland ).
There's no need to uninstall X1 - in fact it's best to leave things well alone for two reasons. One is you may need X1 if something doesn't go right for you and X3, and X3 will grab stuff from X1 that might be useful.
Go for it.

Grum.

Hey there Grum :) That's kinda what I was thinking but I'm a bit confused by the download files. There's another Dim Pro dl, (so that'll be 3 licenses I have) but there's no dl for Rapture, which according to my products, I now have 2 licenses. Is Rapture part of the X3 install? And if so, will I end up with two?

You've probably guessed that I ain't used this software much since I got it but I'm ready to delve right in and want to make sure I get the install just right........

I've heard (and seen) that sometimes when you uninstall an older version of Sonar that plug-ins get removed that are common to both versions.

V-Vocal & R-MIX** that come with X1 are not part of X3.

You might be able to install R-Mix by itself, but don't think so with V-Vocal.
Run the X1 installer and see if they are listed as part of the plug-ins.
If so you, uninstall X1, install X3 then install X1 plug-ins.

Personally I rarely uninstall the older versions.
They still work & I don't think they take up that much disk space.

**correction - it was pointed out in one of the following posts that R-Mix actually came with X2.

You may have multiple licenses but you can't sell them or give them away so it's kind of immaterial.
You won't end up with 2 versions installed.

Edit:
Sorry, if you have an old Dim Pro lite, or whatever they called it, that will be a separate install from the full version.

Sorry for butting in, butt...
Are you sure R-Mix is part of X1? The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to try it out, but having upgraded from X1 straight to X3, I think I missed out on it. Also, it's not listed in the X1 Comparison Chart whereas it is listed in the X2 chart.

I think you're right, looks like that was an X2 inclusion.
Apologies, should have checked my facts.

No, it was the full versions of both Dim Pro and Rapture. Going off topic now but I asked about gifting my second license of Dim Pro when I got 8.5 and the replies I got were that it should be fine. I actually gave it to a friend who has so far not tried to use it. Is that a definite that he won't be able to?

It's considered part of the Sonar package and can't be split off.
It's also tied to your account.  If you go the Cakewalk store you'll see the serial #'s are registered to your account.

It would appear that I misunderstood that one :(  cheers for clarifying it.

And as far as uninstalling the older versions goes, I wonder if I missing stuff from 7 and 8.5.............
