Just installed X3 today and so far I get the following message when trying to play something back, Unable to open Audio Playback device, device may not support the current project audio format or may be in use. I press ok and then it plays, I assume this is not normal and I am testing X3 on my laptop first using my Octa Capture and the pattern seems to be try once fail, try again work.  Did I install something wrong?  Once it starts playing it works fine.  Thank you in advance

Did you install the latest 1.52 driver?  I have an Octa-Capture and upgraded to X3 and no problems.
Also, could it be your PC sound card is interfering?  I ran across that at one time. 
 
What OS are you using?
 

sound card has to be set for the sample rate a project needs. before you open sonar. if your card is set to 48 and you try to open a 44 project, you'll get that error message...

I have the 1.51 on the display of the Octa-Capture when it comes on but the software on lap top shows driver 1.52 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.  Again it works until I stop whatever I am doing, then I get the error, say ok and then it works fine
