Not the way that is optimally possible, gswitz.. see my video and you will see the flaw.

I really don't understand your problem with the smart tool. It seems that it already does the things you want. You can click to create notes in the PRV, you just have to hold down ALT as you click. If you don't want to hold down ALT, you can double click.  You can click-drag over an area of notes to lasso those notes. You can right click on notes with the smart tool to delete them.

Also, you might want to consider that perhaps crying over stuff like this is a little melodramatic.

I'm not an expert on this and do not have time to dig deeply into it right now to check it out against your video but in my cursory explorations I was quite pleasantly surprised by Reaper's functionality in this regard. It seemed to me that, with the PRV edit window open (whatever it's called in Reaper), I could select tracks to display, see one or more or all, in different colours, select notes from multiple tracks or takes or only one, and edit as I pleased. The smart tool is maybe not quite as fully implemented as in Sonar but it seemed I could do a lot of the same things, and in many ways I liked it better. I'll have a quick peek at it now to see if it still strikes me the same way...

Hmm. I'm not sure it does exactly what you want in exactly the way you might want it done, but I can definitely select notes from one track and paste then into another track, wherever I like, all from within the midi editor, without closing it to change tracks. I can see and select notes from multiple tracks, move or copy them, pretty much whatever I like. You'll have to check it out for yourself to see if it's what you want but it's pretty flexible, and Reaper is an astonishing powerful DAW, way beyond what I was expecting based on what I saw when I last checked it out a few years ago. Not everyone's cup of tea I guess but I've been pretty blown away by it.

Your problems stem from your refusal to adapt to new tools.
Your using an older version of Cakewalk Sonar Platinum. the PRV was updated 4 months ago and included a lot of extra/new features.

If you cant get used to using CNTRL+C / CNTRL+V then there is really no help for you in any DAW.
I don't mean to sound negative but it is a must to learn how to adapt Vs. refusing to learn new tricks.

I will look into reaper, thanks for sharing. I stand by the record. I will make another video to explain why, since it is still not clear to some people, how clumsy the system is. Apparently, to my surprise, it's still not clear. To me it is crystal clear. There were flaws, we should not be asked to just "adapt", this is nonsense. A software should aim to be well differentiated and of quality to support multiple intelligences. This is the ethical thing to do, and to be honest, the change I propose is quite simple.

You don't seem to understand that there will not be ANY change, development is over! Whatever you "propose" is completely irrelevant!

This task I find very easy with the new PRV.
Say I have a Bass track perfect,  but the Piano and Kick are not following timing and /or picth perfectly with the bass.
In PRV open the Bass part, Now hold CTRL open the Kick track.
You will still see the bass part ghosted and you can now line up the kick with the Bass
Now Open the Piano part and move the piano's low notes to match the bass part or what ever.
I could not live without this function anymore and even HOme Studio now works thia way.

Eikel, I obviously am aware that its not in production anymore. I am merely addressing YOUR points.

Cactus, very nice that the software helps you in this way, unfortunately, it is something I have never needed to use. However, I am happy the feature was added to accomodate people who do things as you do. Sadly, I was not listened to, and now it is too late. I hope reaper will be a good alternative. I am looking into reaper and cubase now.

Reaper Cubase and even Studio one are great DAWs but I find (as far as midi goes/working with Midi) Sonar was the best. This includes working with multiple tracks in one piano roll instance.
You need to have selection on a midi instance in order to use copy/paste. meaning you must have selection and not just focus.

There are many ways to do what you want without much effort at all.
May I ask why you are not using the latest version of sonar (I see the Command Center nag screen/toast pop up in your video.
