X3c: color customizations need change to the Clip Backgroung, not Foregroung.
I like Sonar X1 and X2 and X3... But today I am going to the other DAW for do score music for the 12 ep serial.
Why? I don`t undestend Sonar X3c.
Why Cakewalk make this color customizations not logical? What is the reason?

When I try to change Track Color:

I think my All Clip on this Track will be chnge Backgroung color:

But I have this - Track Colot change my Clip Foregroung color:

When I swith off this settings:

I see this... And this is not Track Color:

This is Clip Foregroung color! I think it is bad idea.

Why you can do this like in other DAW - when I change Track Color my all Clip Backgroung Color is change to?
And Clip Foregroung color have defaulf color always.

Why? What is the reason?

I change the Color... Good Idea but... Is this good idea for your eyes in PRV?

Why you doing this?

I try to make a individual Clip Color:

But In PRV I have Old note Color:

And again I want to ask - Why? What I am doing wrong?

Cubase 7 - Change track color and change all clip bg.color

Studio One 2.6: No problem in PRV like in Cubase 7. Only Sonar X3c is broken my brain.

Why? Let me explain. Please take a look at this:

I assign different colors to different instruments (e.g. red=guitar, green=base) in the Track View track strips, and when I edit notes in the Piano Roll View I can easily identify which track (instrument) I'm editing, because the notes represent the same color.

AND, for someone like me who heavily use LINKED CLIPS, giving different colors to different groups of linked clips to easily identify which clips are linked to which is VERY convenient.

Why not like other DAWs? Because they are not as profound as Sonar (well, I have only tried 3 other DAWs so maybe Cubase can do this, too?)

The real problem in X3 in terms of color-coding is this. If you select multiple clips of different foreground and background colors and try to change the foreground color to some some other color like this:

X3 not only changes the background colors but also the foreground colors, like this:

This also happens when you try to change the clip foreground colors only (the background colors change too).

So, Cakewalk, please don't change the workflow and JUST fix the bug, please. (Yes, I've already reported this and the ticket is now "Submitted to Development.")

Thank you

Wow, I didn't notice this bug. Thanks. Ironically, this bug is a great help for me because the PRV note colors remain the same even after the bug I explained in my previous post.

I also use Studio One and I ALWAYS wish it could allow users to assign colors to BOTH foreground and background colors.

Yes! This is good idea for midi and I like too it but what about "audio clip" or "step sequence clip"?

If i change the track color i change automatic the Clip Backgroung but if I I need to change midi-note color (Foregroung) I select the track or clip and change this color in Track Inspector/Clip/Foregroung

It is more logical understanding of this new idea.

I don't use step sequencer (I want to use but haven't had the chance), and I don't know about audio clips because the last time I recorded audio was MONTHS ago (I should be recording audio more because.........I'm a guitar player. )

Anyway, I think X2's track/clip color options were more logical. There were MIDI Tracks Foreground Color options in Preferences, which were useful. I remember there was a long thread complaining about the new color customization implementation just after X3 was released, but I can't seem to find it now...

I agree that color customization needs work in X3.  I get so tired of light yellow notes in PRV, that are nearly invisible against the grid.  I would like to see the notes in PRV take the same color of notes in a clip in track view automatically.  At least, the notes in PRV should take the same color as the background color of the track header in
TV.  There are many instances of CW using low contrasting colors throughout, such as in the control bar. Light gray lettering against a dark gray background as the default is not logical at all.  CW, please increase the contrast in your default coloring schemes!

Another factor which may play into this is the way Window's coloring affects other objects layered on top.  That is, if you change the background, the foreground color is changed/affected.

I've spent HOURS trying to get X3 colours to be as it was in 8.5 but to no avail. You cannot change the background colour of say a midi clip, and when it is selected the background changes to grey. Consequently I am back with using 8.5. Any solution to this please Cakewalk/Gibson?
