probably i was just a little frustrated today - but now this has cleared up :-)
 
in general i also like x2 better - probably i am mostly frustrated by the online manual that (i feel) is not very helpful.
personally i think that its already hard for a multiple daw user to get the head around all the different nomenclature between programs (i also use logic, ableton and reaper) and then there is the additional issue of the languages...so if some features are moved or renamed within a single program i just get frustrated quickly

No problem Tom. I didn't think you were off base just a little frustrated. I had a lot of this with others with the release of X1.

F7, F8, F9, and F10 are some of the shortcuts that I restored from previous versions because I've been using them since Cakewalk for DOS. What you want is:
 
F7 = Go to From
F8 = Go to Thru
F9 = Edit | Select | From = Now
F10 = Edit | Select | Thru = Now
Ctrl+F9 = Edit | Select | From = Start
Ctrl+F10 = Edit | Select | From = End

yeah - i am right now remapping my old commands - starting form the original x2 assignment - so its not confusing anymore.
its funny because using a daw is like riding a bike - so once you are good at it you dont forget it anymore - still with new features its like someone has changed the pedals with the steering - haha
