Yes flipping off the 64bit Double Precision Engine temporarily alleviates the problem

There is something going on with gloss when 64 bit engine is checked.  If I have no gloss on any channels the EQ spectrum analyzer for me works well at first. I can turn knobs, check/uncheck filters etc. no problem (all on mono tracks). But, as soon as I click "gloss" the analyzer jumps up to max on all frequencies for a moment before dropping down to nothing. After that it is inoperative.  Clicking gloss again to turn it off does not bring it back.

If I save a file with gloss enabled on a track and then reopen it, the analyzer does work at all for the tracks which use gloss.  Other tracks work ok.. This could explain why some people see the problem and others don't. It may depend on whether they are using the gloss feature.

I've had problems like this also. The analyzer always works but sometimes it will max out while messing with the EQ. I have the 64bit engine checked. Havent tested without it checked yet.

If anyone has issues with CE or Quad Curve Analyser, can you please state if you have 64 bit double precision engine checked in preferences.  If so, what happens if you un-check it and restart Sonar?  Is it working okay?

If you're not having issues, can you also state if you are using 64 bit double precision engine?

I just checked this out and if 64 bit precision is unchecked, it works fine. Stopping playback, and enabling 64 bit precision will play briefly, then white out the spectrum and it goes to zero. Disabling 64 bit precision at that point will not restore the spectrum analyzer.

I tested saving it at this point (both 64 bit precision on and off for the save)... as long as 64 bit precision is disabled when the project is opened (X3c does not need to be closed), the spectrum analyzer functions as expected.

There's more to this than meets the eye.

I need to spend more time trying out different permutations, but I don't think it is as cut and dried as I thought - i.e. all is well without 64 bit double precision engine and a restart.

I've been really busy over the last couple of days, and not had time to delve more deeply.

Mine is working now with the 64 Bit box unchecked.  Is there going to be another version?  Perhaps just a patch?  What are the benefits to having the 64 Bit box checked?  Is anyone uninstalling X3C?
