Did you ever start writing a song one way only to have the song decide it wanted to be something else?  That's what happened with this one.  I started writing it as a rock/country tune, put together a guitar voice demo and sent it to Bapu for his thoughts.  He added some piano rhythms with EZ Keys, added some drums and sent it back.  I re-tracked my guitar, and next thing I knew I was singing it like a pop ballad.  So, give it a listen and see what you think.  Thanks!
Credits:
Ed (Bapu) Kocol- Bass, drums, rhythm piano and production.
Daryl (daryl1968) Greenway- Lead piano
Phil (philz) Doyle- Acoustic guitar, synths, vocals and songwriter.

chorus is a nice lift, cool pad in the background. I'd say the vocals are nice and countri-fied. You might look at a couple of spots in the vocals, particularly the "woo-hoo" parts, maybe doubling them or some harmonies would help.

nice tune, guys. lyrically, it occupies some well-covered ground, but if you've listened to any of my stuff, you'll know that my philosophy is "why use one word when a dozen will do!" so sometimes, simpler is indeed better.

I'd like to see how this one ends up, thanks for the post!

You all did a really good job on this song.  The vocal is heart-felt, and the arrangement is perfect.  I agree with Tom that parts of the vocal could take a little reinforcement, but that's about all.  Keep em coming.

Nice work guys. Phil, your voice sounds perfect for this. I would cut the first chorus in half (using the second half). Mix sounds perfect. I really like the bridge melodically.

According to Phil's notes there is no bridge. There is a verse, a pre-chorus and a chorus. Although I will submit that the chorus has an A and B part. Repeat and rinse with an outtro.

OK, pre-chorus then between the verse and the hook. Very nicely done.

Nothing to add to the comments above. It sounds great to me.  I agree with Tom it does have a slight country-fied or fried feel to it.
I get what you mean in that you start a song in one direction and end up somewhere else.  It happens a lot to me.
Nice one - thanks for posting.
