Me likey!  My current, old 4:3 aspect ratio monitor was bought before I moved to the Pacific Northwest and that was in 2003!  About time for an upgrade me-thinks.

I'd go from a screen area of 11.75" x 17" to 17" x 27.14" - plus it will work with my current monitor arm so I can spin in into portrait mode too!  Considering I spend all my time staring at my screen, this would be a HUGE improvement.  I'd go from 1600x1200 to 2560x1440 too (my video card can handle dual screens at 2560x1600 so I'm good there).

Tempting... Especially since I get paid next week...

I use a 30" for my DAW. At that price I could get that just for SONAR multidock (mixer and fx etc)

I went from 2x21" (1920 x 1080) to a single 43" 4K
I now have 4 x the pixel space and really, really close to the same physical window/font sizes.  I could've gone slightly smaller, maybe 39-40", but a lot of folks go for a 4K monitor, then everything is so small they start futzing about with scaling to make stuff bigger and then complain that SONAR isn't vector based.

I could NEVA go back!!

Wanna see a screen cap?  OK - look ma, no screen cracks!

((I actually have 5x the space 'cause one of the 21" is off to the side for pdf, monitoring, whatever.))

I am blessed to have the real estate at my DAW for two monitors, an 32 inch and a 27 I am going to replace the smaller one with another 32 inch , It really . for me., makes the workflow easier with console on one and track view on the other.

For me, I really need it for work first.  Most of my clients have two monitors (typically 23" or 27" jobs) and, when I perform remote maintenance, everything is tiny and I'm constantly having to hit the screen switch button...  Bleh!

Oh yeah, I still remember paying $1,300 for a NICE Sony 17" CRT monitor because it had the higher refresh rates that didn't give me a headache (completely worth it back then).

If you've been traveling forward in time at a rate of 1 second per second, you're probably older than you used to be. In addition to getting the Senior discount at Denny's and going to bed at 4PM, you also need a larger monitor. It's a health care issue.

There is another factor to consider, however. You're not going to haul it around in the back seat, are you?

(Too soon?)

So are you saying he needs 2 monitors....one for now, and one for the future refresh rate?

I had that same monitor! For years.

I'd driven 80 miles to grab it at the incredible sale price of just $1,000. At the time 17" monitors were typically 2 or 3 times that and normally seen only on high-end CAD/CAM workstations (who else would need anything that big unless you're designing airplanes?). I kept that beast for for way too long, just because I'd spent so much money on it I couldn't bear to retire it.

I recently had to replace a broken monitor, and shopped around to see if a single large monitor might be better than two small ones. I ended up sticking with dual monitors because two 22" monitors cost a mere $200. That's 44 inches total. I could have spent $600 for a single 42" monitor, and ended up with less screen space, or spent $800 to gain an extra 2 inches.

except that a 40+" monitor also has twice height of the 22"-ers.  One 43" has 4x the pixels of 2 22"
It's like having 4 22" displays arranged 2x2
