  • Anyone else seeing weird letter spacing on Chrome?

I've been vaguely noticing this for a while now but tonight reading a page I was struck by how messed up the letter spacing (tracking) is on Chrome. I haven't tested other browsers but I presume it's a WebKit thing? Some letters are scrunched up to their neighbors and it makes reading somewhat uncomfortable. It only happens at 100% zoom, as soon as I zoom in a notch it's cured. Anyway here's an example of what I'm talking about, blown up 200%. Notice the u and the t of "about," also the nt in presidents.

Chrome does lotsa weird things to text. I don't like it for that reason.

Haven't seen it, but then I normally view pages at > 100% magnification. Could be a specific font that it's having trouble scaling. Got a link to the page you took the screenshot from?

That was at 100% browser magnification - I blew it up to 200% in Microsoft Paint. I can't remember where I snipped it from now - possibly a Facebook comment.

It could be facebook then, instead of chrome, or a combo of the two. I switched to Edge when I got a new work laptop, to see how I'd get on with it. Facebook was hideous, with funny spacings, but I thought I should persue it as Edge is meant to have some benefits on low end PC laptops using Intel graphics. I read a few comments about Fcaebooks new font in google searches. But a little after I noticed that facebook was fine. It had changed. I just checked again and it fine.

I've never managed to get along with Edge yet. Every now and then I think I should check it out, but I'm just so familiar with Firefox and Chrome that my brain resists any change.

On every new PC or laptop that I set up, Edge, their stupid store and their complete waste of resources trying to be Apple, Cortana are the first things I remove from the taskbar.

I kind of like, but it's a little buggy at times. Seems way too easy to open a tab in separate window and cumbersome to put it back. Closing all tabs at once often doesn't work. I think I will shift to chrome.
