• SONAR
  • Changing separate tracks into take lanes

Is there a quick and easy way to do this?

Sometimes I record on my non-computer based mobile rig, and then transfer stuff to Sonar for mixing. So anything I have multiple takes of comes in as separate tracks.

Is there any kind of quick and simple method of selecting all the takes and turning them into a bunch of take lanes on one track?

Not right now. It's a bit of a bear, I agree. I've talked to Dev and they agree so I think we may see something in a point release this cycle.

Ah, ok. Would be a really handy one for me. Select all the tracks, and then have a right click "Consolidate as take lanes" option or some such.

yes! I wanted to try this out and actually came up with a way to do it.. .. It's really important you do exactly like this though to make it work.. :)
  • Create a new audio track and make sure it's located at the very top in the Track View window
  • Also make sure this track has NO take lanes created (no empty ones even, that is)
  • Select all the clips you want to include among the take lanes
  • Left click the very bottom clip (of the ones you've selected) and drag and drop them on the new track at the very top. (It's important that you click and drag the bottom one)
  • You've now got all the clips as take lanes in the top track! :)

That's exactly what I'm thinking. It would be similar to how you'd put tracks into folders etc.

Agreed.  In the meantime, Loptec's solution seems to be a great workaround.
