MIDIMINDS
As a LOOOONG time Logic user and having worked with EVERY major DAW to produce commercial recordings in nearly ever genre of music, I must admit that Cakewalk has succeeded in making me a convert.  Yeap...even in regard to the functions that I need in MIDI and scoring.  I know that other DAWs have their strengths.  But as far as a "one stop shop" to get 90+% of my work done, SONAR X3(c) now fulfills that need.

I would seriously advise a major (online) marketing campaign to make folks aware of the growth and features that are now part of the SONAR application.

My hat is off to the bakers.  Genuinely a JOB WELL DONE!

Much continued success, guys ~

+1.  All X3 is missing is Clip Gain (Ala Pro Tools - Cubase visual style)  ; )

I'm glad I bought a Toyota!

Well, actually I don't have a Toyota, but I am clicking my heels and am glad I'm up to date with Sonar X3 Producer since it really is a good one.

I have seen a lot of posts over the X-series time frame that allude to "regardless of other applications that may get used, SONAR is used for final mixing..." I have only tried a couple (albeit dumbed down) versions of other DAWs that came with hardware, and I could not even stay in them long because nothing was intuitive to me, and right clicking on things to find functionality made things worse.

I often think of musicians who have never used a DAW at all (which is a big market)... if they were handed X3, would they be able to "create" quickly... skylight intimidates some, but the basics are all there.

We take stuff like this for granted it's been around so long. I had heard so much about pro t***s that when I saw it in action I was like, you gotta be kidding me!.

S1 was the only other DAW that I gave serious attention to. It didn't last long.

Worked last night for over 6hrs last night and nothing happened. Other than me finding the Tape Sim hum.

X3 all the way!

I'm really curios MIDIMINDS as a lot of producers in the EDM scene bang on about "Logic Pro" (yawn, yawn, yawn) but as I understand it, its MIDI implementation is either limited or not very good?

So why is it that a lot of producers use it?  Is it because it's an Apple thing as Mac users don't like Cubase or something?

I have noted that as it originally belonged to Emagic, it does have some really good VST (woops AU, as Apple don't do VST) effects & great sounding synth plug-ins even though the ES synths are about the most ugliest & un-user friendly synth interfaces I've ever seen...  :-D

One last thing, I agree with others on here, Cakewalk should market their products better as I also think it's an outstanding piece of software & in the UK/Europe, it probably has the smallest market share which is a great shame (I think even Ableton outsells Sonar).
