Hi all ... I have MIDI audio coming from my Yamaha Motif 8 into the sound card but no audio from any real time tracks that I have previously recorded on X2 ... meters are showing input and output but no sound ... tried to change preferences but nothing is working ... I am using an E-MU1616m sound card ... I have also upgraded from Win 8 64bit to Win 8.1 64bit ... I am using Sonar X3b Producer.

Thanks in advance,
Glenn

Inside of SONAR, make sure that your inputs are set correctly. If you are not getting any sound after record enabling your tracks then you might just need to make sure you actually have those tracks assigned to your sound card.

Thanks Dan, yes all tracks are assigned ... never had this issue before ... also just downloaded X3c hoping to maybe fix a glitch ... still the same ...

Hi polyphonix,

Sorry to hear you are having an issue. I think the quickest solution here might be to give our tech support a call and have them help you out. It's probably the quickest way to resolve it since it's likely just a settings or set-up issue.

Let's go ahead and do the following:
Go to Edit > Preferences > Audio > Configuration File and select [Reset Config to Defaults]

Do you get any input now?

I've had this happen and it turned out to be the Concrete Limiter on my master buss. Check yours and switch the Concrete Limiter off (if you have it on there).

Most likely the E-MU Patchmix session is not configured correctly. Open up Patchmix and check for signal on main bus, and make sure it's routed to the physical output that your monitoring system is connected to.

Reconfigured to defaults ... same ... routed to physical output on E-MU1616m ... same ... I have meter action on input and output but no sound ... and again the MIDI files from the Motif are playing back audio ... no problem ... just weird ...

So you're saying audio from both the Motif being echoed by audio tracks in SONAR and audio from recorded tracks is visible in Patchmix meters but only the Motif audio is audible? I don't see how that could be possible. I have to think the Motif audio is being direct-monitored, which it will be unless those input channels are muted in Patchmix. Are they muted? And if Patchmix is showing signal from the recorded tracks, and you're not hearing it, that has to be a routing/hardware/firmware/driver issue with the 1616m.

I'm inclined to suspect something is going on with the Win8 drivers from E-MU; are they beta?. All in all, it seems you have a marginally supportable environment with Win8 running on an XP-spec machine, and possibly beta interface drivers.

Was X2 ever working with Win8 on this machine or is it still installed and working?
