Good Morning,

I will try my best and make this post short and also post every detail I can. I just purchased Trilian from Spectrasonics and want to lay down simple upright bass on some train beats. I am getting a delay when hitting the keyboard on my M-Audio
Aximo 61 until I hear the bass note, thus track is horrendous. I am not a computer guru nor recording expert so thought I'd lay down my specs below and if anyone could help, I'd appreciate. Worst I can do is give too much info. But let me know as I'm actually at my studio today so I can provide responses

ADK ProAudio Intel Core i7-3820, CPU @ 3.6Ghz 16 Gig RAM, 2TB worth of Hard drive
Sonar Producer X3 64 bit on Windows 7
RME Fireface 800
M-Audio Axiom 61 midi keyboard

Buffer Size Latency 256
My project is at 48/24.
Driver settings
Input 6.3 msec, 301 samples
Output 7.3 msec,352 samples

Buffers in Queue=2
Buffer Size Fastest
Midi Playback setting, Prepare using 250 msec buffers

Do you get this kind of latency in brand new projects? Or are you adding this to an already plugin heavy project?

I have Trillan and you can improve latency. I notice you have your buffer at 256, you can try 128 but Omnisphere and Trillian both can have glitches if the buffers are too low depending on the patch and effects contained in it. The patch alone can be the problem with the latency.

brand spankin' new project :) trying to lay bass beat down on top of EZ drummer....I''m to the point of someone has me looking at solid state drivers to speed up my computer, but not sure what else I can do. i just bought Trilian yesterday and it's rendered usless if I can't lay down beats in real time.
is there a workaround to just record a midi track then assign it to Trilian after? should I have to do this?

Do other VSTi's exhibit this problem, or does it seem to be limited to Trillian?

I have Trillian myself and I do not have any tracking latency issues with it (using Roland PCR-300 k/b over USB 2.0).

Do you have any plugins on any tracks or buses that come in with the track template you're using to create a new project?

seems to be just Trilian. Again I'm not a computer guy, nor a midi guy, but I figured my system had the "power" to play one bass part only over an EZ drummer track. Do I need to bounce or freeze the EZ drummer track before I do bass part? I just figured it's something easy I'm missing

Your Daw specs look pretty good (ADK Audio) and I do not think that is your problem. SS drives may help but I have projects with many more plugins/effects along with Trillian and have no latency issues.

I would have to agree that adjusting your latency to a smaller setting may do the trick, this is typically the solution to these types of issues.

Your system has a lot more clout than mine.  If you're sure it's just Trillian, then I'd suggest to reinstall it (not the entire sound library, just the VST components) and/or upgrade it to the latest from Spectrasonic's website.  Honestly, there's no way Trillian should be exhibiting latency on a system like yours; if other VSTi's aren't showing any latency then it's not your soundcard or settings in Sonar.

What testing have you done to make sure it's just Trillian that's the problem?

Well after some screwing around, I made sure all effects were off. I seem to not be "correctly". I have 2 tracks, EZ Drummer and Trilian. Both are controlled by my M-Audio Axiom. First I find a groove I like in EZ drummer, click drag it on EZ track. Create loop and drag out till infinity. Then I switch to Trilian. When I hit Axiom to play bass it triggers EZ again and I get damn drum AND bass sounds. Is it the input echo button or my ins and outs I have screwed up?
